SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

I began to watch, wanly hoping for a decent martial arts action flick. The idea of post-hypnotic control is interestingly scary, and a fifth column composed of national patriots is engaging interaction. But my rule of thumb is to switch off the moment an F-word is wrongly used. As a word for marital sex it's fine, but as a contempt word, precisely because of its core human relationship association, it undermines individuals who speak it and those who hear it - verbal abuse that can batter the mind and undermine us. So, no matter how exciting the film might be, off it's gone, leaving a trace of filth in my gullet. I weep for Seagal.

Firstly, I would like to say ignore the previous reviews saying that this film is unfair to Urueaguay. In my view it in fact puts this far away country of which we previously knew little on the map. They should have a Steven Seagal National Holiday rather than dissing him. Secondly, its portrayal of the country is generally spot on (peasant goat herders etc) the small innacuracy I would have corrected is that as has been pointed out that there are no Mayan ruins in Uruagay. I would have set the scientist's HQ instead inside the Aztec ruins that I believe to exist underneath the street of modern day Montyvideo.SPOILER ALERT: The film itself is a tour de force. The only questions that remained at the end were: 1) Why did they go in the sub; 2) Where was the sub going?; 3) Where did they end up? Stevie still kicks ass - highly recommended.

I can accept DTV movies for what they are, low budget with a plot full of holes. But what saves this one was the supporting cast rather than the overall effort by Seagal.A no goodnik militant named Hilan is working with an evil doctor (played brilliantly by Nick Brimble) to come up with a mind control device. After its completed they use their device to assassinate a US ambassador and its up to Seagal and his troops to save the day. Thats where it comes down to the supporting cast, Vinnie Jones is the man in his role, Nick Brimble played his role even better. Hell Raicho Vasilev....a veteran stunt man makes a vanity appearance as one of Seagal's troops. Hell even William Hope from Aliens is in this one. Add in a bunch of unknowns and its really not that bad.You can overlook the plot holes such as since when is Uruguay armed with terrorists up the wazoo? The movie appeared to be about Seagal trapped on a sub, but he was only on it for about 15 minutes or so, talk about false advertising. Didn't know you can simply walk on to an opera stage and not get attacked by security either. Again, all this can be overlooked if you're a fan of the Seagal movies to begin with, but the cast is what keeps it watchable. If you don't like the plot, at least stick around to see what Vinnie Jones says or does next. The highlight of the movie is when Henry absolutely beats the crap out of Plowand, very brutal.6 out of 10

This movie was a total let down for me, I was really disappointed with the whole thing. I have never seen Steven Segal in something as dire as this garbage. The only thing going for the film was the gorgeous and sexy Christine Adams - a real treat for the eye - her mere presence in the movie being the only reason I saw this crap through to the bitter end. Both Segal and Adams can do much better than this, they are worthy of much greater things. To be honest, I found the whole thing very hard-going and difficult to keep up with. Usually I am "on the ball" with movies and can figure out what is going on right from the start. This movie, however, had me confused right from the start. What was it all about exactly? Maybe I don't know the answer to that because I totally lost interest in the whole thing after 45 minutes or so.A total waste of rental money.
