It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

This movie was great, found it on accident while looking at Andy Whitfield's film endeavors. Could have used some more publicity but that understandable with the budget they had. B movie camera quality but acting and overall continuity of the film more than make up for it.I was genuinely surprised that i hadn't heard about it before. If you are an action sci-fi fan odds are you will agree this film should not have just slipped through the cracks as it did. I personally found it to be of better quality than many mainstream blockbuster titles with 50 times the budget. Definitely worth watching but don't just take my word for it decide for yourself. Can you believe that Legion had 173 times the budget and still turned out not even half as good. OK let's get the bad stuff out of the way first, it's a low budget film, the actors aren't great and generally quite bad a times but that is easily forgiven. To me there is a lot of truth within this film and the story is good which is ultimately what makes this film good and it's a great example that you don't need millions to make a decent film as well as the artistic feel (at times) it's just let down by some terrible acting, corny moments because this could have been a masterpiece if they worked on those things. They are actually working on a sequel and I for one am very exited, hopefully they'll work on the aforementioned negatives and make a brilliant next movie.

My sister-in-law recommended this movie to my wife and I went into watching it with no idea what it was about other than the brief description found on the back of the Netflix envelope. I was intrigued by the story but have been disappointed before by other films with great ideas and shoddy execution. I found it took a bit for the movie to bring me in, but once it had I thought it was extremely compelling. The way the film makers tackle the concepts of free will, sacrifice, good vs. evil, and what it means to be human with all of its weaknesses is worthy of discussion by cinema aficionados, students, and average fans alike. All of this is excellently delivered in a very character driven plot rather than the more common rapid fire ride from one fight/action scene to the next that glosses over the real issues with which these people are truly struggling. I could tell that the film was made on a small scale budget, but I had no idea how small until I logged into IMDb. Now I have to admit that I am even more impressed with the way the film turned out than before. I also must say that the few negative reviews I have read were unfair in my mind.If you are only interested in large scale, big budget, effects driven movies, then of course there may be little appeal here for you. But if you are like me and wish that there was more substance to go along with the action and effects, than you might find Gabriel to be quite a gem for your collection.

After watching this you might want to take some time and think (again) upon the "rules" that govern the human nature. I think that our greatest flaws as human beings have been translated in a very suggestive way by using the symbols of "archangels" and "fallens", these hierophanies corrupted by a world of whoredom and drugs - things that induce fear and hate... In this world, they say, "even angels are afraid to walk"...What about the poor "inhabitants" which are only human...? They already surrendered, not knowing that there might be something better out there. They keep thinking that they are free, while few chosen ones are trying to really set them free... so they can choose...by free will! Well, it sounds much like this world... Great allegory.
