Top student Jane Ryan heads to Manhattan for a college-scholarship competition. Her rebellious twin Roxy Ryan goes along to crash a video shoot. You have watched them grow up on the screen, and with each movie, their acting improves (at least in this critics opinion).New York Minute is a fun story filled with romance, mystery, action, and of course, comedy. It is fun and family friendly. While not all of the acting is the best, you can't put this in the low quality film category, although, it doesn't belong at the top either. The Olsen Twins have learned that you can make a good fun movie, and keep it clean, this is a must see for any family. With all of these points in mind I give "New York Minute" 8 out of 10 for being fun, light- hearted, and family friendly.

My honest opinion, as someone who doesn't really have any negative or positive feelings towards the Olsen twins is that this movie was almost alright.Almost in that the idea was pretty kooky (ripped-off, yeah, but kooky non-the-less), and certain chunks of the movie were pretty palatable. I really feel that the main problem started to arise when Jared Padalecki's character joined the bunch. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Jared fan but I felt embarrassed for him during this movie. His character is just so empty. If I found twins in my hotel room (hot or not) I'd freak out, but Trey? Nooo, he starts chatting away to them like he's their best friend. It all became very awkward to watch - like "Am I supposed to believe that this would actually happen?".And then Riley Smith (Jim) was no better, both of the guys decide they like the twins for no reason other than their looks, there's no development at all (except for a few slow motion hair flicks) but suddenly the guys are following them around like love sick puppies. This is all fine for a PG movie (which it is) but I just think that if the twins want to be seen as adults, they're gonna need to start accepting roles in movies with a well-written script.

this is one of the stupidest movies i've ever seen - so unrealistic. puts a bad name to new-york. just really awful plot.it's about twins Roxy and Jane, one is smart, and the other is a smart-ass. after their mom died, they kind of grew apart. the movie is really bad, not an ounch of realism. they make a city like new-york, who's larger then life, like it's the smallest city with just 10 people. anyway - u don't wanna watch this.i cant wait for this 2 actresses to finally shoot a serious movie, with a serious plot, not childish.

But I did...and you know what? I was entertained, in a weird, strange, bizarre way. I find the Olsen Twins fascinating because they have literally been acting since before they could SPEAK, starting on one of the all time lousiest sitcoms, to making a string of incredibly lousy videos and the occasional movie (I'm sick - I watched "It Takes Two" as well) So the thing is if it wasn't the Olsen Twins in this movie - just some random set of genetically related actresses - I fully know I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much. But...it wasn't, it was this freakish duo who have been on camera since they were in diapers and who collectively are worth about a gazillion dollars having appealed to a whole generation of girls that are now rapidly growing up with them.As such, it was fascinating to see just how they set about making this transition. Some flirting with guys...but nothing too serious. A little skin shown...but in a discreet, non-lascivious way. How DO they make this flip into adulthood anyway? If you've built your entire career and empire upon being kids speaking to kids...what happens when you grow up? This film was a stab at that, and a pretty good one.Good pacing, good support from costars Eugene Levy and Andy Richter, and some fun, crazy antics. Just eliminate that damn hair salon scene! So in sum...check your brain at the door, and be entertained not as much by the antics in the movie as by the strange, bizarre transition Mary Kate and Ashley are attempting here. It's a heroic attempt, and not entirely unsuccessful.
