The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.

As arrogant as he clearly is, Yogi may go around boasting that he's smarter than the average bear, but after seeing what sort of silly shenanigans he gets up to, I'd definitely say that he's also more annoying than the average bear, as well.In fact, I think that Yogi Bear should be well-advised to switch names with his sidekick, Boo-Boo, and that way he'd be much more appropriately named. For starters - I'd say this kiddies' movie made its gravest mistake by mixing live-action with the CG bear effects. This weak, marginally entertaining story would've faired so much better had the whole production been total animation. Not only was the "aw-shucks" romance that transpired between Ranger Smith and Rachel more suited for a pair of clumsy teenagers - But the overly ambitious Mayor Brown character (and all of his despicable, political treachery) literally scraped the very bottom of the barrel when it came to the stereotypical callousness of a government official.Far from being just a simple, light-hearted romp through the pristine beauty of Jellystone Park, "Yogi Bear" (with its cut & dry characters and its $80 million budget) didn't even come anywhere close to capturing the dumb charm of the early-1960's, 2-D, animated TV series which it based its characters upon.

Do not agree with some of the reviews written below, I loved this film. So it may not have a completely original plot but I've got to say that I enjoyed every minute. I thought the cast all played a brilliant part and made the movie a real enjoyable watch. It had moments of great excitement and lots of laughs.Having watched the Yogi Bear cartoon in the past, this made a welcome revisit to Jellystone and the lovable Yogi and Boo Boo.Whether you're a child now, or at heart you're bound to love this film.Recommended for allBuy now!

Yogi Bear is about Jellystone Park about to get closed down because the town is bankrupt. Due to this, Ranger Smith (Tom Cavanagh) throws a party for Jellystone so more visitors come in, more visitors, more money. But Yogi screws it up. So now they must save the park somehow before it gets closed. Yogi (Dan Aykroyd) and Boo Boo (Justin Timberlake) do a good job at voice acting. Tom Cavanagh also does a good job, but everyone else does a bad job. ESPIALLY THE MAYOR (Andrew Daly) HE DOES NOT EVEN TRY. The 3D is pretty good, so if you have a Blu-ray 3D at home, try to rent this movie.OVERALL: It's funny, great 3D, and pretty good. Go see it, you won't be disappointed.

When reviewing a family movie, I look at it a few different ways: first, is it appropriate for my three kids; second, is it entertaining to me and my kids; and third, is there a decent storyline. I didn't see Yogi Bear in theaters and I am glad I didn't spend money, for a family of five, on tickets and concession items that go with taking my family to a big screen showing. However, I think this is one of the more appropriate and enjoyable family movies that I have seen in years. Yogi made me laugh and it was just long enough to keep my kids attention for the entire movie. The story line is basic and not to deep, which helps to keep the kids' attention. As a dad, I appreciate not having to explain everything to them and am able to enjoy the movie myself. I thought Dan Aykroyd's voice work on Yogi was over acted and made to sound like the cartoon I grew up on, but after a few scenes you get used to it. Justin Timberlake, as you would expect him to be, was funny voicing Boo Boo. Tom Cavanagh, as the abused Ranger Smith, was a clean cut likable character similar to the character he portrayed on the T.V. show ED, on which he starred. Anna Faris's part although limited, fit in the movie's overall context. T.J Miller, Nathan Corddry and Andrew Daly were entertaining fodder to Yogi's antics.I watched this movie with my kids and I can't remember a part where at least one of them was not laughing. To me, that's all you can ask for in a family movie; no swearing, no violence, just good old fashioned Yogi Bear Fun. This is a movie that I will be buying for the collection.Grade: A+visit our site at www.twodudereview.com
