This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Baseball and romance, that's what Fever Pitch is all about. The romance comes when advertising executive Drew Barrymore discovers that she has to share her boyfriend Jimmy Fallon with the whole team of the Boston Red Sox. Loving the Red Sox amounts to an obsession with Fallon, he has season tickets inherited from his late uncle who taught him love the Crimson Hose and prepare for a life of disappointment.Fever Pitch is based on a British comedy of the same name where a man's obsession with his favorite soccer team threatens to ruin his love life. Not knowing a thing about British soccer I can't really comment and I'd miss a lot of the nuances. But every baseball fans knows the bitter trail of disappointment and the legendary curse of the Bambino that started when Babe Ruth was sold to the New York Yankess starting their dominance of the sport and insuring the Red Sox to also ran status. 86 years of not having a World Series winner in Boston makes one an eternal pessimist. You have to love a team to stick with them and I remember there were people interviewed in Boston in 2004 who were still alive when the Red Sox had last won a World Series 1918.Just as the Red Sox reversed the curse and became world champions so to did Barrymore and Fallon overcame a lot of obstacles to see their dream of love come true. You have to have a heart of stone not to appreciate Fever Pitch. In 2005 a longer curse of 88 years also ended as the Chicago White Sox brought home a World Series title to that city. No time apparently to do a story about them. But their north town National League rivals the Cubs have an even longer drought. Their last World Series win was in 1908 and the Cubs were last in a World Series in 1945. I hope someone is out there working on a screenplay for a Chicago version of Fever Pitch.

"Fever Pitch" is such a sweet and hilarious movie! I really liked it. It wasn't like most romantic comedies that are so cliché and cheesy. This is one of those few that will really make you laugh out loud (mostly thanks to Jimmy Fallon). The movie also made me more cautious of my actions, because I'm scared that I might end up being an overly attached fan, like Ben.Somehow, I found this funnier than Jimmy Fallon's other movie, "Taxi", and as usual, Drew Barrymore nailed her role, and Ben's friends also did a good job and were certainly very entertaining. This movie is one of those feel- good movies, and I give it an 8 out of 10.

A US version of 'Fever Pitch' - originally a novel then a film about Arsenal's Football Double Season. Colin Firth did himself no favours in the UK version which was laboured and neither drama nor comedy - probably because soccer fans in UK are so one dimensional. But the US version about the Boston Red Sox's winning season, scores heavily as a rom com, and a sporting insight movie. There are some really good gags about male fan sporting behaviour and a decent look at what women really want - well, the Hollywood version of it anyway. Good acting, crisp direction and writing, and excellent use of locations give this movie a very surprising quality - way, way above the rubbish turned out by Farrell, Carell, Rogen, Wilson and Stiller!!!

I am reviewing this movie from a movie point of view instead of a sports point of view even though I will mention a few sports related topics. From a movie view, this is a great, family-fun movie with several important themes added in.This film is about a die-hard Red Sox fan who falls in love with a workaholic and they begin to date. Their relationship is fine to start off but as things get sweeter, the addiction to the Red Sox team has begun to tear them apart inch by inch. The acting is pretty good. Drew Barrymore did a great job. Jimmy Fallon did a decent job, not as well as I expected. There are some good songs in this comedy. These songs include "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond. This movie brought back some unpleasant memories for me. When the Yankees were ahead 3 games to nothing, I thought that the Yankees would be in another World Series, but the Red Sox won the next four games to advance to the World Series. That still haunts me to this day.Sports fan or not, this is a good movie to watch with a date or family. It has some decent laughs. I rate this movie 8/10.
