In February of 1959, nine Russian hikers ventured into a remote area of the Ural Mountains. Two weeks later, all of them were found dead. What happened is a mystery that has baffled investigators and researchers for decades. It has become known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident. When five ambitious American college students are issued a grant to return to the site of the original events, they gear up with the belief that they can uncover and document the truth of what happened to the supposedly experienced hikers. But what they find is more shocking than anything they could have imagined. Retracing the steps of the Russians' ill-fated journey, the students are plagued by strange and increasingly terrifying phenomena that suggest that in spite of the desolate surroundings, they are not alone. The forces at work in the Dyatlov Pass Incident have been waiting for them.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

If you hike the mountains, you'll always remember it! Easy done, nothing's extraordinary but the idea is amazing.

Definitely one of my favorite movies. I got so freaked out when they hung their bodies at the end in their heads moved!

Pathetic and insulting to people involved in real event. A group of pampered American Kids, lead by a particularly self-glorifying girl going walking into their death (believing, they are actually invincible). Not sure, if this is meant to be a black comedy. Certainly not entertaining...

WOW! I mean... WOW! I actually do recommend watching this, because you will never have seen something like this before. The movie starts quite well. + Good actors + Atmosphere + PacingReally, it does well! You like the characters relatively well and the snowy landscape makes you feel "in the mood" for horror. Just 1 small problem.... THE PLOT! It is like they were filming a real documentary in the Ural mountains and then just realized, "uhm... we need to do something?"The main character talks about seeing a door in her dreams - but this is so underwhelming that you forget about it, but sure enough the door is there and they go inside.Inside they just pull the plot straight out of their butts and even though they are in Russia they talk about the Philadelphia experiment and that this is where it must have happened. This comes OUT OF NOWHERE!They add some of the worst CGI that belongs in a 2003 video game and add teleportation and a time travel element, even though this has not been hinted of at all before. It is like the movie missed 1 hour and teleported (hur hur) to the end.You just sit in aw as they just randomly come to the most bizarre conclusions of nuclear power reactors, keeping "things" out, and yes - teleportation, Philadelphia Experiment and time travel, even if none of them can read Cyrillic. When the movie ends you just sit there and wonder - WTF?!Perfect 5/7 WTF?! moment, and therefore worth a watch. Otherwise... 3 stars only because of the opening. NOT SCARY!
