The Lazarus Project (2008)
After Ben Garvey foolishly turned back to crime, he thought his life was over when he was sentenced to death by lethal injection. But his death sentence isn't quite what it seems, as Ben regains consciousness near an eerie psychiatric ward, where he's told he's been hired as the groundskeeper. With the state of his soul in question, and the love for his wife and daughter all the more real and powerful, Ben must figure out if he's truly cheated death, or if he's become part of something far more sinister.

Highly Overrated But Still Good
Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

I thought the movie was going to be a version of stutter island about someone is trapped inside of a mental hospital and needs to get out. Where the movie starts to lose you at is 1. Every time he speaks of wanting to go home, no one ever mentions he was on death row for murder if he goes home they would lock him up and kill him for real this time. for people who wanted him not to leave, I think that would be the biggest deterrent. The choice between staying here and being free or going back to Texas and being killed is a big deterrent . It's like the movie writers forgot that he was on death row.2. is the fact that it made no sense at the end of the movie when he showed up at his wife's house for him just to get out of the car And for his wife to walk up to him like he had just went to the store for milk. If my husband who was executed showed up on my front steps I would be scared and petrified not hugging him happy that he came home.3. Finally for rehabilitation clinic, I think that the counselors did a very crappy job. If we are going to take murderers and attempt to give them a second chance the first thing we want to do is sit down with them and explain to them 100% exactly what happened. No showing up in the night being spooky giving ominous warnings. Sit them down and explain "you were supposed to be killed. Due to a diversion program we spared your life you have to stay here. if you attempt to leave we will put you back on death row and kill you " I think no matter how much you missed your family if you knew that would not try to leave.I give the movie four stars. The acting was good the plot was interesting but the execution failed miserably
One of the more boring movies I've started to watch and wanting to get into. Except the initial action scenes, which are OK but pretty routine, the acting is sub-par. The story is presented in a very boring fashion that doesn't entice you into wanting to learn more.Lines are spoken without emotion when that would be needed and multiple actors deliver without engagement as if it was a school play. Paul Walker (as Ben Garvey) is a tiny bit better than the characters on the side, but by the time the story has developed a bit you are already bored enough to ignore whatever he tried to put in. I think I'll avoid director John Glenn in the future.
This film is similar in the plot like Shutter Island that came two years later. The difference is that this movie is a lot better. And I'm guessing Scorsese was greatly inspired by this movie. Only this wasn't a Scorsese picture with Leonardo Di Caprio in it so nobody noticed this.Some of the best acting from the late Paul Walker. Those of you who thinks he was just a pretty face, watch this.I don't wanna give away too much, except to say that the ending of this movie is a lot more satisfying than the stupid twist and ending of Shutter Island.Another difference is that this movie is very quiet in it's pace and it doesn't try so hard to come off as a horror movie like the moronic Shutter Island, because it doesn't need to.I definitely recommend this movie. And if you haven't seen either this or Shutter Island, watch this and pretend Shutter Island don't excist.
Intriguing and truly amazing film. This film not only has an amazing plot twist it also shows the raw and sincere talent of the recently deceased Paul Walker. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes mysteries or to someone who watched and enjoyed shutter island. If you do not watch this i promise you are missing out on a astonishing performance by all of the cast.I think the film has something we can all relate to, I personally am i very hard person to please but this film 100% did the trick.It is a travesty that Paul Walker is no longer with us he was an amazing actor and you could tell by all of his performances how dedicated he was to his roles. RIP.
