Just so...so bad

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

OK so my partner and I got this movie expecting a serious take on the timeless tale of captain Nemo. Sadly our expectations were far too high for this title, it seems we were duped by the "in the tradition of the abyss and the hunt for red October"! The only thing this piece of excretement has even remotely in common with the above titles is the underwater element. This movie is a complete shocker, it's so bad I created an account just to ensure other people don't support such horrid actors, producers and directors in any financial way. Honestly I know high school speech and drama students that have more skills and charisma than to talentless hacks polluting this movie. The audio guy needs to have a boom mic inserted up his rectum sideways, the sound is all over the place and is as if it was recorded on a cheap digital video recorder. As for the director, wow simply wow. I was thinking of someway I could critique your abilities without resorting to insults but sadly I can't. Lucky for me this complete rubbish movie is more than enough of an insult. You need to quit and try something your better at, I don't know maybe work at Walmart or something. Well anyway people I hope my review is enough to encourage you to hire or purchase a different movie.

The crazed Captain Nemo (robustly played with plummy relish by Sean Lawlor) wants to wreak havoc upon the world by turning the waves upside down. It's up to a submarine rescue crew to stop him. Sound good and thrilling? Well, it just ain't. Gabriel Bologna's flat and pedestrian (non)direction crucially fails to inject any real tension, energy, or excitement into the plodding narrative; instead this flick gets severely bogged down in a numbing surplus of drippy dialogue thanks to Eric Forsberg's blah and long-winded script. The mostly crummy acting likewise fails to impress, with the top thespic dishonors copped by the ever-wooden Lorenzo Lamas' stiff portrayal of the stalwart Lieutenant Michael Arronax and Natalie Stone's supremely grating turn as Arronax's bitchy ex-wife Liuetenant Commander Lucille Conciel (Stone sports one of the worst and most unconvincing British accents to disgrace celluloid in the last five years). The bland cinematography, terrible CGI effects (the giant squids are especially hokey and laughable), infrequent and ineptly staged action scenes, and generic marital score all don't help matters any. Moreover, this picture is too dull and lifeless to even work on a so-bad-it's-good kitschy level. A real stinker.

Most impressing: The "Rewind-scenes" - Bubbles turning back into the sub while undocking...To honor the work of B-movies, even the Chinese alphabet is to small to find any letter describing such kinda "action". Actors? You won't find some. Dialogues: I was in the happy situation to watch the German version. The mixing with sound-effects and the (oscar-suspicuious) music (that, by the way, never fits to the situation) made it nearly impossible to understand them clearly. Thank god! Special thanks for the impressing views of the USS MISSOURI (here declared as USS LINCOLN, the U.S. Navy must be very surprised to have much more heavy battleships, than self-expected), even, when they were much better in "UNDER SIEGE" and surely a dozen other movies. Very funny were the on-board-scenes with lifebelts hanging in front of bulleyes and command-bridges in total disorder. This "movie" is surely one of the best examples for waisting money and material...

Donot ever make the mistake of watching this movie. I got this movie free from someone and the person told me its a waste of time. I was told that this is the worst movie ever made after watching the movie, But I have had seen the original Captain Nemo movie a long time ago I thought with new technology it might be made better but after watching the movie I totally agree its not worth of watching even for free. waste of time and waste of a great story I have seen the original captain Nemo comparing to that movie its as bad as it could be the director did his best to make it the worst movie ever. and the actors they never let the director down by helping him doing the worst acting of there carriers
