The greatest movie ever made..!

I was totally surprised at how great this film.You could feel your paranoia rise as the film went on and as you gradually learned the details of the real situation.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Jubei Ninpucho is cleverly structured and although it is not an inherently complex narrative, it features a very clever approach for presenting vital background information. Together with the mostly great animation, this makes for a thrilling viewing for anime fans and fans of (Japanese) action movies. There are some minor drawbacks, like characters that could be more fleshed out and the uneven animation quality - however, the movie succeeds in telling the story it wants to tell and uses very creative visual effects for telling a mature story.Overall 7/10 Full review on movie-discourse.blogspot.de

"Ninja Scroll" is a story told so confusingly it makes you think it is much more complicated than it is. Is that the point? You get sparse plot details in the first few minutes which aren't explained until an hour later. By that stage, you can't remember the beginning details, or you don't care.Perhaps as a result the movie feels much longer than it is, at only an hour and a half. The sparse details make you feel like you are watching an epic, when actually, the plot is pretty basic.It is something to do with a battle between ninja teams and a "vagabond" caught in the middle. On one side, the ninja are all superhuman or supernatural beings, with abilities such as turning their bodies to stone, generating electricity and being able to hide in shadows. The movie is, really, just a series of fantastic fight scenes, but I kept coming back to the confusing plot.But there is only one reason why anybody watches "Ninja Scroll", and I'm aware it's not the plot. It's the action scenes, and they are impressive. "Ninja Scroll" is one of few animations I've seen that is sickening in its violence. There are scenes I can't watch, with limbs being torn from bodies by blood-drinking golems and faces being headbutted in.There is also a fairly misogynistic streak in the film you might detect. The female lead, and love interest to the protagonist, is the victim of sexual violence not once but twice. Aside from that the only female character in this movie is spurned by her gay love interest.

After watching "Sword of the Stranger(2007)" recently, IMDb recommended me to watch this and so I did! Honestly this was really good, the story line was smoother and funnier, although there is gore but not a large amount as "Sword of the Stranger(2007)" had. It was really sad that the ninja girl who occupied the Ninjaguy Jubei and the old man through their journey to travel to get rid of Jubei's enemies from the past, died in the end. Seriously, his past enemies really did become invisible the last time he killed them ahaha!This movie really does sorta remind you of Dragon Ball Z or Sword of the Stranger. Its really good and I would definitely recommend this to all anime fans out there!

I watched this film because it is an anime very well known outside of Japan and considered very important, "the founder of anime ninja in the world".in my opinion is much less interesting than other anime like "Ghost in the Shell" and "Akira" (to name two well known abroad)the story is fairly trivial , the hero, the girl, the love between them, the old Japanese wise, the (supernatural) enemies. the images are very beautiful, very raw and shocking, the most important part of the movie.In conclusion I would say a lot less than its reputation. 6/10
