This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

This movie is no good movie, its better off as a weird alternative reality comedy. this gives the movie rewatch value. the unpredictability is intense, wheras in other "good" movies, its simply the good guys win generally. bye

What a treat it is that this film sits on my shelf, next to Vertigo & There Will Be Blood. Greasy Strangler riffs on so little, but manages to produce a film that is repetitive to the point of memorable. Every day since watching it, I have to call someone a BS artist. The pleasure of first watching this film I can compare to the first time I watched Happiness (Todd Solondz) Just when you think it's going a bit too far, it surpasses your guesses and goes further still. Detractors will say it's easy to be disgusting but let them write a script, film it, edit it and get it out there in cinemas and shops. Well done, those who made Greasy Strangler.A companion piece could be the story of how Elijah Wood and Ben Wheatley became producers for this film. I imagine the script, greasy, slipping through their letterboxes and as they read, they look around their houses, wondering if someone is playing a joke on them.

A middle-aged social misfit is forced to confront the possibility that his abusive father is the local serial killer in this outlandish black comedy. This is not the easiest film to warm to with deliberately over-the-top performances, repetitive dialogue and the two male leads constantly wandering around nude, however, the pure wackiness on display has a certain charm. There are also several very funny moments as Michael St. Michaels keeps complaining "you probably think I'm the greasy strangler!" when everyone from hotdog vendors to his own son refuses to put more grease on his food, and as he dons bizarre outfits without giving a second thought to how he looks. Not all of the jokes work, with far too much toilet humour in the mix, but it is an amusing film from start to finish with all its weirdness. What's more, the film even spins an at-times touching tale of father and son coming to understand and appreciate one another in the backdrop. This is certainly not a movie for all tastes, but in between the pitch perfect electro funk music score, the imaginative costumes and the surprisingly decent makeup effects, there is a lot here to like. The film admittedly goes a little off the deep end towards the end and gets a little too weird for its own good, but this might otherwise be the most refreshingly unusual horror-comedy since 'Otto; or Up with Dead People'.

A deadbeat father and son duo, Ronnie and Brayden, share a house. By day they run a disco walking tour, and not a very good one. Brayden starts a relationship with Janet, whom he met on the walking tour. However, his father is attracted to her too. All this time, murders are being committed by a foul creature, the Greasy Strangler.Incredibly stupid, and one of the worst films ever made. The writing is incredibly weak and pointless and the performances are worse than amateurish. Very poor production values. Even the soundtrack has a cheap, plastic feel to it. Seems like the idea was just to gross people out.
