It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

RELEASED IN 2005-2006 and directed by Jeremy Haft, "Tamara" is a Canadian production about an unpopular girl (Jenna Dewan Tatum) at a Winnipeg high school who is harassed by her peers and inadvertently buys the farm in a malevolent prank. Through the dark power of witchcraft, however, she returns as a wannabe seductress to enact revenge. Matthew Marsden and Claudette Mink play a married teacher and administrator at the school."Tarmara" contains elements of "Carrie" (1976), "The Rage: Carrie 2" (1998), "The House on Sorority Row" (1983) (which was remade as "Sorority Row" in 20009), "The Craft" (1996) and "The Faculty" (1998). Yet it mixes its own brew and, surprisingly, has a few original aspects, along with respectable gore, if that's your thang. The movie influenced future flicks like "I'll Always Know what you did Last Summer" (2006) and, especially, "Jennifer's Body" (2009). If you like these kinds of films, you'll like this one. There are some awkward or un-compelling moments in the filmmaking. With just a few key tweaks this could've been great in the manner of "The Rage: Carrie 2." Still, it's good enough and, like I said, has some innovative parts. Marsden and Mink are strong as the adult protagonists. The women are cute (e.g. Katie Stuart as winsome Chloe) but, with the exception of Mink, they look like they're suffering mild anorexia. Please, ladies, eat some food!THE MOVIE RUNS 1 hour, 38 minutes and was shot in Winnipeg, Manitoba. WRITER: Jeffrey Reddick.GRADE: B/B-

Tamara is a shy and lonely outcast at school who becomes the victim of a merciless prank by the popular kids. In a fit of rage, there is a struggle and Tamara is killed by accident. The group buries her in the woods and vows to never speak of it again. Then Tamara walks into school the next day. There's just something about this movie that I really like. It's not very original and is predictable, but it's a fun horror movie to watch. There aren't many modern horror movies that are able to be the good kind of stupid, but Tamara does just that. There are so many ridiculous moments and funny things that happen or are said, but it's never boring. There are also some very disgusting moments of gore that will make you vomit or smile… depending on what you like. It's one of those movies you don't bother checking the time because it has a steady pace that never slows down. Last but not least, Jenna does a great job at portraying this character and being evil. So if you want a goofy, fun, horror movie then check out Tamara.

Picture "Carrie", only somehow make it into a teen slasher: that's pretty much what "Tamara" comes down to. Angels of vengeance usually work really well within the movie universe, and Tamara is no exception. She's fierce and cruel, but at the same time her evilness comes with a healthy side of dark humour. Her murders are just standard clichéd witch behaviour, but occasionally she takes a break from that to just kinda mess around with people for absolutely no reason but for laughs. I particularly liked Patrick and Shawn's fate, very unexpected and diabolically creative. There's also a fair amount of gore thrown around throughout this movie, which was kinda surprising. Blood and gore isn't a good reason to like a movie, but to me it did add a lot to the general nasty atmosphere. The fact that lead actress Jenna Dewan is pretty smoking hot helps the movie too I guess, I can't back that up, it just does. This movie was better than I had expected, actually pretty impressive for the standards of recent horror cinema.

Tamara is the typical, down-trodden, "ugly" girl at her small-town high school. After publishing a revealing article about steroid use by the jocks (and maybe their girlfriends), Tamara becomes more than just the invisible girl. . . and, instead, the victim of punishment by the jocks (all of whom look to be approaching their mid-life crises). Eventually, the "cool kids" decide to really get her back and arrange a big prank to keep her mouth shut from now on. Unfortunately, the prank goes too far. Only then is Tamara able to unleash her inner, sexy Witchy Woman to take vengeance on those that wronged her. What makes this film so good is its ability to appeal to horror fans and non-fans alike, similar to previous films in the subgenre like 'Scream' and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' It has a story man can relate to or, at least, sympathize with. While the characters aren't exactly three-dimensional, there's someone for everyone to relate to, whether it be nerd, jock, or stoner. The script does hit a few clichés, but slashers are like romantic-comedies in that it's very difficult to completely avoid the clichés of the subgenre. The acting, particularly Jenna Dewan as Tamara, was good (or "good enough") and the little-known Jeremy Haft helmed the film well from the director's chair.Overall, 'Tamara' is a well made and extremely entertaining slasher that deserves much more exposure than remakes like 'Prom Night' and 'April Fool's Day' have received.Final Verdict: 6.5/10.-AP3-
