It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Straight forward film that went nowhere with no twists or turns and no clever plot twists, very predictable movie with a swift ending, I'm thinking it was probably written during the writers strike period of shooting movies in the US, and I really dontt Honk any of it was unthinkable, save millions of lives by torturing a couple 1 of which was admitting to being the terrorist?

This movie is really awful. Can Samuel L Jackson stop playing the same character in every bloody movie he is in, please? "Oh look at me guys, I am going to make a joke and eat burgers with my wife while there is a ticking nuclear bomb somewhere. Three of them." This might work in a slick Tarantino-ish flick, but this movie isn't one of them. All the characters are completely one-dimensional. Most of them have no clue what they are doing on the screen besides keeping a grim countenance. The FBI. The CIA. A bunch of fcuking clowns. I thought Carrie Ann Moss would show some shades, but nopes. There is some random factoid thrown in that she never had a boyfriend and then she sleepwalks through the movie with a stone face. Michael Sheen was good as the terrorist and frankly deserved to be in a better plot than this joke of a thriller. The movie drags on till the "unthinkable" moment and voila! It's barely unthinkable. If you've seen a Bollywood movie in your life, that's the thought you have from scene 1! And then there is all that gore pretending to make you believe that Samuel J is a man with a plan. Oh trust me, he is as clueless as everyone else. The role of a decent movie is to make you believe that what you see on that screen is actually happening in some imaginary world and has a plausible flow of events. This movie just makes you want to shake your head and go to bed.

After an Islamic terrorist by the name of "Stephen Arthur Younger" (Michael Sheen) is captured by local police at a shopping mall it is discovered that he has planted at least 3 nuclear bombs that are set to explode in a few days in at least 3 American cities. This results in the military taking over the investigation and beginning their interrogation of him. However, since time is of the essence the State Department sends in an expert named "Henry H. Humphries" (Samuel L. Jackson) to obtain this information from him and he is allowed to use almost any methods necessary. Also with him is an FBI agent by the name of "Helen Brody" (Carrie-Anne Moss) who doesn't condone some of his tactics--which Henry uses to his advantage. However, when the deadline fast approaches Henry goes even further and this results in all kinds of difficulty for everyone involved. Now, in my opinion, this film revolves around the question of how far should a civilized society go to extract information from a person who is intent on killing innocent men, women and children without any regard for basic human decency? And if the answer to that question is that there are no limits then the conclusion becomes—at least from this film's perspective—that civilized society in question is actually no better than the terrorist. However, it could also be argued that a person who is willing to kill so indiscriminately and with no regard for his victims is actually no better than an animal and therefore has no right to be treated with respect or civility. Be that as it may, this film might provoke a totally different response on the part of the viewer and if that is the case then I totally respect that as well. In any case, this was an interesting movie and I have rated it accordingly. Above average.

Good movie because it puts a moral dilemma in your face. We are all going to die this we know. But how and why plagues us all. The twist in this movie is it is before your time, you don't deserve it and there may be nothing you can do about it. That makes this movie a thriller! Why? Because some crazy people are up to no good. In this movie, it is the whole point and then some. The actors pull it off making you belief this is not an act thus good actors. The story holds and grips the viewer. I am reminded of what Israel does to bombers that go all out in the name of what they think is right and detonate themselves in public places killing as many as they can women, children, elderly etc. Israel, who cannot stop this, lets it be known that the bombers whole family will be arrested and of course their homes torn down in advance. What happens to their families before, during and afterwards is put on the bombers shoulders if they decide to go ahead. We hope this acts as a deterrence of some sort. Keyser Sose, the bad guy in The Usual Suspects movie had a similar mentality if you crossed him. Horrible thought isn't it? The whole thing of I harm you and you harm me is so perverse which is why they call it a no win and everyone loses. This movie captures that process and concept quite nicely and of course it brings out of the viewer raw feelings when it does. Edge of your seat, at times hard to process because of the viewers own personal thoughts being projected and added to the movie/story line thus upping the tension. Very effective as a wake-up call to reality in today's world. Just keep telling yourself its a movie and it is not real...or is it? Highly recommend sunflower seeds or you will nail bite. No cell phones or bathroom breaks either. Let the movie work you! It will
