It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

Sadly it's not a logical film. We can buy that such an illness exists, and displays these symptoms. Still you can come up of many ways to recognize people. Just think how blind people can do that. Not only you can recognize the voice, but - if you are not blind - you can always tell short/tall, dark/light, fat/slim and so on. Asking a password from each acquaintance also would be an easy way. Keeping this in mind, obviously many of the scenes in this movie are plain absurd. Other unbearable clichés situations also appear in the movie, good performance from Jovovich though.

"Faces In The Crowd" is a nice throwback to such early-1990s thrillers as "Blink" or "Whispers In The Dark". Milla Jovovich, who was also one of the executive producers so she clearly believed in this project, is convincing in the central role, and I think it was a masterstroke to cast many different people in certain roles....in fact, the casting department found so many similar-looking people that you often can't be sure, just like the heroine (the effect is intentional), who you're looking at! You may be shocked to read at the closing credits that certain characters were interpreted by over a dozen people! What is less shocking is the identity of the killer; there are only three real suspects, after all. But the film will keep you guessing for quite a while, and the ending itself is more downbeat than expected. **1/2 out of 4.

This was a Very Difficult Premise and could not be Fully Realised by the Script and Direction. The Central Theme of Face Blindness is Intriguing but Visually comes off as Muddled and Confusing. The Character's Changing Faces from Milla Jovovich's Perspective are so Fleeting as to leave the Audience more Confused than the Protagonist. This does not Bode Well for a Complex Thriller as the Viewer is in a Constant State of Flux trying to Figure Out who is who and what is what and Things get Lost Trying to Keep it all Straight. To be Kind it was a Killer of an Attempt but it just didn't Work. That Burden Weighed Down the Serial Killer Elements and the Tension was more Frustrating than Thrilling. It's not a Bad Movie Overall and if You can Stay with it and Manage to not be Thrown by all the Faces Fading in and out and can Keep it Together, it Might be a Rewarding and Interesting New Take on the Genre. The Handicapped Victim has been done before but is by No Means Overdone and this Effort was a Good Try but the Execution is just too Thin and the Complexities Overwhelm the Enjoyment. Worth a Watch but the Entertainment Quota will Require Effort.

Usually, I look for Horror films to watch (and later review), simply because I'm a huge Horror fan. However, many great Horror films have many Thriller features in them especially the rush and guessing work the audience goes through, then finally the twist towards the end.Faces in the crowd is an excellent Detective Thriller / Whodunit, using a very original and genius idea. A serial killer is terrorizing the state, and the sole eye witness who has seen him in the act - suffers head trauma and loses the ability to differentiate or remember faces. The careful and very clever cinematography portrayed the condition of "face blindness" in a very relatable way, making the audience almost go through the same experience as the protagonist. The script was very good in my opinion, some of the lines were truly magnificent(especially those of the deaf Psychiatrist, trying to explain to the face-blind protagonist how to remember faces the same way a deaf person remembers music). The twist towards the end, however, could have been better, and the ending felt rather anticlimactic. That was very unfortunate, as this film had the potential to be one of the best. All in all, I had a great time watching Faces in the Crowd, one of the best story ideas I've ever seen! Trying to remain objective I rate it 7, but don't miss out on it!
