Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Maybe you've overdosed on the undead - vampires, zombies, cyborgs, Young Republicans, and you've sworn off any more such movies. Make an exception for this.VAMPS is a charming comedy about two sweet girls in NYC who just happen to be nosferatu. Goody (Alicia Silverstone) was made a vampire in 1842, and Stacy (Krysten Ritter) in 1992, but because vampires don't age they both look to be in their mid-twenties (and Goody has fibbed about her true age to Stacy). It turns out that both of them were turned into vampires by, and are thus under the thrall of, Cisserus (Sigourney Weaver), a mean and self-centered psychotic vampire. But Goody and Stacy are not like her; for one thing, they have never attacked a human but have survived entirely on vermin - in fact, they support themselves with night jobs as rat exterminators, which provides them with sufficient sustenance, and then the twittering of birds warns them of the coming dawn in time for them to rush back to their apartments and their coffins.Goody and Stacy belong to a support group of vampires who have sworn off human blood. Even Vlad Tepish (Malcolm McDowell) is a member. Vampires cannot be seen in mirrors, or in photographs or television; a great frustration to Goody, who ceased to live before photography and who hasn't seen her reflection in 170 years. Goody is also baffled by the modern preoccupation with wireless communications. They have some non- vampire friends, and both girls have accumulated hundreds of credits at night-school - their only difficulty is that the graduation ceremonies are always in daytime.Stacy meets a nice boy in class - Joey ... van Helsing (Dan Stevens). His dad is Dr. van Helsing (Wallace Shawn), the famous vampire hunter, who thinks Stacy is a tad too pale. Stacy is able to charm (literally) Joey's mom (Kristen Johnston) but the Doctor is a tougher challenge. However, real romance blossoms with Joey. In the meantime, Goody encounters an old boyfriend (Richard Lewis) - and, yes, old. He's aged, she hasn't. He's keeping vigil over his dying wife, but there's still a spark between Goody and old flame Danny. In the meantime, there's a crisis in the local vampire ranks: Suddenly the government wants lots of the local vampires to show up for IRS audits, immigration updates, jury duty, etc., in the middle of the day. And at the same time a different and very personal crisis for Stacy and Goody. This is, in fact, a lovely and sweet movie. A little too gruesome and perhaps too adult for children, but not the sort of thing to cause nightmares. Goody may be undead but she made my heart beat faster and I honestly wouldn't mind if she gave me a hickey.

As I begin myself by saying that I have finished watching this movie on 12/22/2015 on Tuesday at around 11:50 pm. As I have not watched more than 5 or 6 vampire related movies so far but Let me tell you that this movie is little bit or quite different than What I have seen before in Vampire related movies. So as the rating suggest 5.1 stars on IMDb.com , according to me this movie deserves more than that so I have given it 8******** stars. This movie has all the elements of comedy, romance and friendship in an adequate proportion to make it work as an entertainment package . This movie is not even a bit boring from any angle. This movie is under rated on IMDb.com according to me.As I have read on the discussion board on IMDb.com about the quality of special effects used in this movie is bad, yes, it is bad according to 2012 level, but if you will follow the time period used in the movie than the special effects get justified .Oh, one more thing follow the different time periods (timelines) given in the movie (at some places) and everything will fit into its place and I'm not going to reveal anything about the movie and just want to add that both the leading actress were really great and amazing in their role. So, just watch it and entertain yourself and I'm sure of one thing that the movie is funny and romantic. This is my third review for a movie on IMDb.com and I'm glad that I wrote my feeling about it.For me its 8********.

God, that was awful. Started so-so and went downhill. I was doing other stuff in the middle and I also literally fell asleep. As if that wasn't enough, the movie features some of the WORST visual effects I've seen in years. The "highlight" is at the 76 min mark, you simply have to watch it - you'll think we're in the 1960's and Ray Harryhausen is still doing stop motion. One can only justify it as an actual homage to the old films, with in-camera effects (the sofa thing at the club) and stop motion, I don't know, but it was out of place and looked horrible. What a waste of Sigourney Weaver, Malcolm McDowell and especially Kristen Johnston which was given a few dialog lines of an extra trying to make her way into the film industry.

Calling this a B-movie would be undue praise. Evil Dead is a B-movie. Vamps is cheap, silly and uninspired.Cashing in on the success of vampire franchises, Vamps is a film with poor quality in story, acting, special effects, dialog, directing and soundtrack. It tells the story of two young women living in New York who meet guys and go to clubs and happen to be vampires. The film manages to squeeze a couple of funny jokes and ideas out of this setup.Mostly the film rests on the shoulders of Alicia Silverstone, who is funny and genuine even in this silly role. Krysten Ritter is alright as well, and Sigourney Weaver looks like she had fun filming her scenes, though I'm not sure how that is possible and how the filmmakers got her to sign on this.
