The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Night Moves is a rather slow paced and unsettling drama. There are most certainly an audience for these type of films, but Night Moves doesn't provide much excitement, thrills or suspense of any kind. Some have described this film as a thriller but one can't seem to relate. Much what occurs in the film is quite slow and at times boring to watch. We are watching to see the characters develop and some tension but mostly what we receive are long pauses of silence, wide shots of the outdoors and small talk dialogue. One positive is the actors and the authentic feel of the film. The cast do ensure they are seemingly portraying as 'real characters'. From the clothing, atmosphere and overall tone, this film has an authentic and real aspect about it. Understanding there are Eco environmentalist people in reality like the actors portrayed in the film.Overall, Night Moves is perhaps more suited and preferred for people specifically in this type of genre. Those who enjoy slower paced character driven dramas about earth, landfills and the environment. Because there is no action or thrills in this film.

Short time ago, I hear about this movie and The East, in my morning radio, during some debate about the environment. Both movies sounds very interesting, so I went out and buy both. The first one I watched, The East, was a strange and boring movie, who lacks a common thread and contains a dull plot-twist. Some days after, I then watched Night Moves, with the expectation that this movie was better. But on the contrary, Night Moves is even worse than The East! Night Moves is a boring and long-winded movie. It lasts for two hours, and the first hour(!) is just one long intro before the movie really starts. And even then the movie actually begins, it is very boring and slow. Actually, I stopped the movie 30 minutes before it ends, because I couldn't take it anymore. Too slow! Actually, I fast forward to the last 3 minutes, just to realise that the movie is even open ended! Why in the world are people still making open ended movies? That is the most incompetent thing in the world - a director should make a proper work, and not rely on his audience to do the rest of his work! Tell us how the thing ends!!! (this pulls the movie from 2, down to awful 1 out of 10 stars)The movie offer an interesting plot. But the two recent environment-movies, this and The East, are bad and not worth to watch. If you wants a good environment-movie, rather watch Steven Seagals "On Deadly Ground".

First let me tell you that I was going to give it a 6 or 7 rating because the story was good and the actors also did their job perfectly. But after thinking it over there are too much things that bothered me. First of all the ending, that was the major point for me to drop the ratings. It's not the first time that I watch a movie that isn't unpleasant but that has no decent ending. Why do some directors do that? Can you just not end a movie with a simple explanation or with a real end were you actually know what will happen? I hate movies that just end in the middle of nowhere without an explanation. And that's the main reason why I gave it a lower score. Also the movie is extremely slow. It's not necessarily bad sometimes but in this case I had more then once the feeling that they had to move on a little bit faster. Slightly disappointed in this movie.

(Spoilers). Sat down to watch this semi-dud, "Night Moves" is a plodder and tries to work as a psychological suspense movie. The problem though is there's little to no actual action, not to mention the dialog interest-level in the characters is poor. Perhaps worse than this is the glaring use of non-resolution in the end where we have nothing wrapped up, but even more questions than when the movie began. Some of the earlier scenes were decent leading up to the eco-terrorism, but passed that the last third of the movie dragged awfully. The acting was so-so as was the direction. The cinematography was satisfactory, and dialog OK but uneventful, and certainly not provocative. Not Recommended (5/10)
