The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

It's a great comedy, I'll give you that. But everything in the movie is just to badly made, and stereotypical. But, it's entertaining.

I think most people would agree that 'Evan Almighty' isn't a patch on the original 'Bruce' film, but judging it on its own merits, this is a fairly average family movie and certainly not the disaster that some reviewers and critics have made it out to be. Okay, it's nothing special and it's nowhere near as funny or imaginative as its predecessor, but for entertainment value it isn't that bad.Steve Carrell is good as Evan, but he's certainly no Jim Carrey, who has an effortless ability to get laughs out of any material. The plot is original but also predictable and typical of a family film, with by far the best part of the film being its ending. It makes the very average first three-quarters of the film worthwhile with some brilliant special effects and cinematography. 'Evan Almighty' is an average family adventure film. It's certainly not as good as its predecessor but also not as bad as some would have you believe.

When Bruce Almighty was released to the public in 2003, I really laughed it out. The general idea of seeing Jim Carrey becoming God was really enjoyable to watch. So here is the sequel with Evan (Steve Carell, amazing) as the main character, who is now embracing the path of a congressman, is chosen by God (Morgan Freeman) to build an ark because another biblical flood is coming in.Let's be clear, Evan will not have superpowers like his previous workmate, Bruce Nolan, had the privilege to get rewarded to accomplish his mighty job. He is on his own with God on his side who is enjoying himself to turn Evan into Noah: His hair becomes longer, he is growing a long beard despite shaving continuously, he's even trading his nice political suit for a long shackled dress.During that time, Evan is trying to continue carrying on his job of congressman, provoking more and more disbelief from his fellow workmates and staff while his appearance is changing. At the end he is taken for a nut and a laughing stock by the general population and journalists who are watching him building the Ark. But at the end of the movie, the flood (which was much less disastrous as the Biblical one) finally happens, prompting Evan to let all his detractors to enter the ark saving them and as a result, is celebrated like he deserves to be.What is lacking in this script is the general craziness and freedom Jim Carrey enjoyed in Bruce Almighty. Seeing him torturing and playing with the people around him by using his Mighty powers was the most enjoyable thing to see in the first movie. Unfortunately in this sequel, Steve Carell doesn't enjoy the same level of creating freedom. That's the biggest regret of this movie. Maybe if the huge comic potential of Steve Carell would have been better employed, this movie would have had another impact on the audience.

First, the movie is OK, but not great in any way... butWhy are the Congressmen and Congresswomen in the cast citied as Congressperson(s). This is totally beyond me. Why is IMDb succumbing to political correctness? Only John Goodman is citied as a Congressman. I'm really surprised that they citied Morgan Freeman as GOD, since citing GOD is not politically correct in this day and age. IMDb is always touting guidelines for postings, but they themselves are being politically correct. When will they truly take a stand and cite the people for what they play as characters. The biggest joke of posting a comment is "Your review does not contain enough lines - the minimumlength for reviews is 10 lines of text". I should be able to write a review or statement without this requirement.
