The fledgling romance between Nick, a playboy bachelor, and Suzanne, a divorced mother of two, is threatened by a particularly harrowing New Years Eve. The film was still a fun one that will make you laugh and have you leaving the theater feeling like you just stole something valuable and got away with it.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

I went into this wanting to like it. I like Ice Cube and I'm not someone who enjoys hating on every family comedy I see. But this isn't very good. It's not unwatchable by any means and I can even see why some might enjoy it. The cast is not bad (even the somewhat annoying kids) and there are a couple of scenes that play out well if you haven't seen a lot of comedies before and recognize how they're just rehashed gags from better films. My issues are that it's predictable to a fault, like something made by assembly line, and it's just not funny. I didn't laugh once. Maybe a chuckle or two and a smile at some of the more corny scenes. But beyond that this movie is utterly forgettable.

Surprisingly enough this movie was a box office hit and many local TV channels are considering this as a ...Xmas movie and they put in their program once a year. The script is ludicrous and annoying. A guy who likes a hot (if you count Nia Long as such) mother of 2, in order to make her to like him pretends to be a caring friend and takes her kids to a roadtrip to Vancouver.Every scene is annoying (yes I know that I used the word too many times). It has a cartoon-ish feel. Like you are watching looney toons. By all means this is NOT a family movie and certainly not a Xmas one.Overall: Some people are consider this a seasonal movie but believe you me isn't. Avoid it.

(38%) A borderline acceptable family comedy that follows a small business owner "ice cube", a man who must deal drugs or something on the side because he never wears the same clothes twice, and his big ugly car is covered in more jewellery than than Mr T, but because this is a kids film that aspect of his life is never looked into. And I can only guess that he samples some of his product as he hallucinates quite badly from time to time with a nodding toy bursting into life, but yet again, we never see him shoot up. The plot is tried and tested, "Planes, trains and automobiles" type of thing, and everything goes along at a decent pace, just don't expect any of cube's explicit raps on the soundtrack, or to laugh too much, and this might just pass the time better than expected.

There is some nice scenery, the soundtrack is slightly decent and Ice Cube tries hard to give his character some credibility. The problem is Are We There Yet, apart from the odd chuckle, isn't really that funny. The script is incredibly clunky, and the story was too predictable and the characters too clichéd to make the film likable and credible. Aside from Ice Cube the other acting is either forgettable or irritating. The direction is not very good, and the pacing is uneven throughout.Overall, Are We There Yet does have its moments, but to be honest it isn't particularly good. Worst family film? No, I don't think so. But best? Not by a longshot. 3/10 Bethany Cox
