Bridge to Terabithia (2007)
Jesse Aarons trained all summer to become the fastest runner in school. So he's very upset when newcomer Leslie Burke outruns him and everyone else. Despite this and other differences including that she's rich, he's poor, she's a city girl, and he's a country boy the two become fast friends. Together they create Terabithia, a land of monsters, trolls, ogres, and giants where they rule as king and queen.

Very Cool!!!
An action-packed slog
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
This was not the film I thought it was going to be. Looking at the cover, I see plenty of fairies and a luscious kingdom as a backdrop. Sure, those elements are incorporated but the beauty of this melancholic tale is how these friends survive reality. Two friends decide to use their imagination to create a visionary world called Terabithia. Acting as an escape from reality, the two form a close bond where they choose to help each other through situations in reality. Filmed through the perspective of children, we watch their views on certain life qualities: family, friendship, love and loss. The imaginary world juxtaposes with the often harsh reality they reside in. Forceful parents, countless bullies at school, lack of friends...all naturally occurring aspects in one's life. Our protagonist then uses his artistic skills to escape these and his new friend opens his mind to the use of imagination, or more like role-play. The reason why I say melancholic, is because of that ending. Powerful? Sure. Was it needed? Definitely. It shows how developed the main character is throughout his childhood, a very short duration of time. Hutcherson and Robb have beautiful onscreen chemistry, I really adored the attention to detail regarding their friendship. Madison was particularly outstanding as Jess's younger sister. The story was well paced, heartwarming and surprisingly a faithful adaptation. I felt the visual effects were sub-par, especially for a fantasy flick, and the usage of Terabithia felt limited. I wanted more. It just couldn't decide from being a fantasy film or a coming-of-age drama where occasionally the two just do not mix well. Also, a teacher would not ask a student to go to the museum on a weekend. Not in this day and age. However, this is an above average family fantasy drama that can entertain younger audiences and emotionally stimulate mature viewers. Just, open your heart to the film and the ending will hit you. Was executed majestically.
I adored this movie. Yes, it is fictional. Yes, it is fantasy or adventure as they call it here on IMDb. Yes, this is a family film for families with children who can understand exactly what using an imagination is all about. Disney has imagination! Josh Hutcherson, plays Jess in this film and wow, what a wonderful actor and a praiseworthy performance from him. I loved his character all the way through the film. If we raised children to have his kind of character in this film, we'd be living in heaven on earth. His eye contact was pure and I could see the emotion in him throughout the entire film. Who is this young man? His hair was done so cute in this film. I can't wait to see other films from him. He's a favorite now! I've seen him in a few others films and I remembered him from them. He truly carries this film from beginning to the end though. He establishes a bond with a new girl at school that ironically moves into the home right next to his family's home. They are the main characters and story line. This is a film I've had on my watch list to see and finally I'm glad I did. When you can clap at the end, you know it's worth watching at least once. Don't miss it, if given the chance to see it. You won't be disappointed. The music teacher (Zooey Deschanel) is a cutie too! I think I remember her from 500 Days of Summer. I also believe that Jess has a secret 'teacher' crush on her in this film.
Absolutely Brilliant. It is indeed an inspirational movie for the people who can see with your mind wide open. Well crafted master piece about friendship, hope, imagination. Leslie creativity with jess artistic talent created an entirely new world to tell you that "you are the king of your future world and how you want to build it is in your mind and it is worth giving try".Without any hesitation, i was cried for the scene which explain the feeling when you lose a beloved person. But, what makes you feel them alive is what you keep the thing which they left when they were with you.Truly Spectacular.
Everyone probably experienced this during childhood- the uncertain border between the real and imaginary world, when the imagined world might seem you more realistic than the real one. I remember my imaginations of my childhood and I now follow my daughter creating imaginary worlds herself.Bridge to Terabithia is a marvelous movie about childhood, imagination, love and attachment.Young Jess Aarons is not very happy about his life. At home he deals with four sisters, at school he has no friends. He is a very good painter, but no one has told him about that. But one day she meets Leslie Burke- a new student in his school, a very bright and shiny girl with a charming smile and charming personality. She grew up in a very different family than Jess did. Her parents know almost everything about her life (they even know that Jess is a good painter) they encourage her to be bright and to be different. She is not only a good runner but also knows how to deal with problems at school. But most importantly she knows how to make up stories, and how to imagine. She helps Jess to do the same. Jess has the skill and they make up the story, their world together- a fascinating, beautiful world- Terabithia.Jess's little sister also can see Terabithia maybe a little bit different, with purple flowers. Terabithia is there for everyone who is a child, who has the fascinating imagination of little ones. My review was about the story. All the other things of the movie (filming, acting, etc) is good as well. But the movie is more about the story that will make you smile and maybe move you to your own Terabithia for a second.
