It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

The Disaster Artist is a movie made as a biography of another movie, The Room from 2003, a stinker that apparently became a cult movie because it was so bad. I didn't see the original, and I'm not planning to, as to me The Disaster Artist is a weak movie about an even weaker movie so what's the point of watching the other one? James Franco plays Tommy Wiseau, the director/writer/actor from The Room, a weird guy that wants to look excentric but in fact is just a random weirdo not worth mentioning. The character is annoying to watch, I don't say James Franco didn't a good job playing him, he probably did a good job imitating a boring guy. The story isn't funny, and isn't good enough to waste your time with it. Weird can be good but in this case it just isn't.

"The disaster artist" isn't just a tribute to the worst movie of all time "The Room" but it is also an informative movie about filmaking and friendship. James Franco's performance is amazing, he performs Tommy Wiseau in such perfect way (both appearance and attitude). The movie has also a lot of funny moments and they all happened for real. In this movie, Tommy Wiseau is portrayed as a crazy inept actor (and director and writer) way too proud of himself which hardly tries to realize his dream to become a prestigious and beloved actor. The story of friendship between Tommy and Greg becomes also very touching, especially in the end. It's quite impossible watching this movie without smiling or crying. I think you don't have to watch the movie "The Room" in order to enjoy this piece of art.Final score 7.3/10 (good). "The disaster artist" tells the birth of a legend and a touching story of friendship. If you watched "The Room" then watch this movie immediately. You won't regret it.

The Disaster Artist has been quite hyped up and praised among critics during its released, During these type of films, the art of these films is how continued and consistent they are into true based story. Having low expectations and seeing the Room for the first time a few years back, memory of the film wasn't too vapid. The Disaster Artist truly does live up to the hype as a film which is generally funny throughout and inspires a true developing message. The high praise for James Franco is worthy as he steals his scenes as he delivers one ofhis better performances acting comparible to Tommy Wiseau in the film. Many scenes in the film are funny in an unintentional way due to the delivery of Franco, as well as the chemistry between him and broth Dave Franco. It's quite a shame this film did not receive as much Oscar awards as well as money at the box office office. Though with a small budget of $10, the Disaster Artist went on to make slightly under $30 million worldwide. Overall, the Disaster Artist lives up to the hype and is a generational film. Well done to the entire cast.

This movie and the acting received some acclaim during the most recent awards season. My wife chose to skip it but I watched it at home on DVD from our local public library. James Franco produced and plays the lead role of Tommy Wiseau, who says he is from New Orleans but appears to be a naturalized US citizen originally from Poland.Wiseau famously made "The Room" in 2003, a movie with an average IMDb rating of 3.6 with highly skewed voting, 23% "10" votes and 37% "1" votes, and is widely considered a disaster. Or as some say "the best worst movie ever made." Wiseau spent $6Million of his own money which itself is unexplained. So this movie is mostly about that, how Wiseau decided to use his own funds to make the movie he wrote, starring himself. The writing is poor, the acting is poor, but it was made with great sincerity. Clips of many scenes are easily available in online videos. James Franco is really superb as Tommy, as well as his brother Dave Franco as Tommy's friend and fellow actor, Greg. It is a very oddball movie but also excellent, I enjoyed it thoroughly. As an big bonus, after the credits start there are a series of scenes showing the original side-by-side with the same scenes in this movie.
