Sorry, this movie sucks

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

.Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

I recommend this one to movie lovers for its clever plot. I have never seen such a clever plot that keeps twisting throughout the whole movie. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much out of this movie, given the British accent. Don't get me wrong! It's just that I'm not familiar with the British movies as much as I am with American movies. I just don't get the British way of rending movies. I salute the writer for this clever plot. It's really gripping. At the beginning, I didn't really get what was going on, but later I realized that something smart was being done on the screen. Some real entertainment. Don't miss out on this one.

I picked this one up because I saw it had Simon Pegg in it and I have been following his work since Spaced. Before we get too far into this, I will add that I found the film entertaining, there were some moments that I genuinely laughed at. However, there were also a couple of places where the film sadly misses quite hard.The convoluted plot makes several twists and turns before we meet a truly evil Bryan Brown, who sadly is wasted before he can shine in this story. He plays his role with real brooding menace, I will admit that I really wanted to see him develop into a scary bad guy. It was literally a shot in the throat when he is taken out of the story in a really silly way and does not even let off a shot. Such a waste of a truly talented man, playing a really dark character. I felt that the atmosphere that Brown gave off could have led him to the sort of cold darkness of Anton Chigurh, one of my favourite bad guys.Simon Pegg was wonderfully vile throughout, subtly slimy and adding layer upon layer to his character, the almost, but not quite professional hit-man. However, the numerous failed close up shootings seem incongruous with a man who is apparently able to shoot a target from a long distance through the wrist. As a dark comic character though, he is despicable and very enjoyable.The rest of the cast were simply OK, leaving Pegg and Brown as clearly the better players here. A usually good Alice Braga, seemed like she was coasting through a fair bit of this film, which was a shame. She is usually a natural and empathic actress, but I felt very little for her character in this movie.One aspect of the film that I found hilarious, although I doubt it was intentional was the boot of the hit man as he stepped from the car. How many times have we seen this shot in a serious film? Maybe it was a deliberate cliché, but the film did not seem clever enough for such an in joke. Just before the end of the movie I realised that this one reminded me of one of Pegg's other films. Who Saw Big Nothing? Another story of some criminals who fail to get away with the crime, resulting in a plot twisting caper. Yeah, there are some similarities, but so what? They both have their funny moments and both movies are guilty of wasting an otherwise excellent actor who could have added more to the story.If you see this one on the cheap section of the supermarket DVD shelves, then pick it up. You can put it on your own shelf next to Big Nothing, just like I did.

I dished out cash on pay per view for this very mediocre product.The only real highlight is a smug and self-assured Simon Pegg, who does not mind having the camera on him and rewards the viewer with a memorable hit man incarnation.The love triangle story is badly copied from countless films that came before and did this better. It's full of clichés and lacks any colorful detail that might be conveniently provided by the nice backdrop, i.e. an incredibly beautiful Australian beach.The direction only adds to the misery. There are many lengthy and boring episodes where A is driving to B, B to C, back to A, etc. The stretches of highway used are average and so you're basically waiting for someone to drive to a destination for the action to continue, a LOT.Apart from Pegg, most of the actors are a bit like used cars. Not bad, but they have seen their prime and their acting is not making up for it.A missed chance.

Once is never enough" – a tagline used to promote Kill Me Three Times and a tagline that couldn't be more far from the truth as one single watch of this dire Australian black comedy is most certainly enough.On the back of one of the most successful Australian films of all time, Red Dog, you'd think that long time director Kriv Strenders would've known a thing or two about making a competent and well-made feature length film but judging by Kill Me Three Times, the director certainly has a fair bit more to learn about what it takes to deliver when it comes to filmmaking treats.Kill Me Three Times is sad to say as a proud Australian, yet another telling example of why quite often local productions fail to resonate with either local or international audiences and while the locations of this West Australian set comedy/thriller certainly look nice and I'm sure the crew enjoyed their two weeks away in the sun and sand, Kill Me Three Times lacks any type of personality, heart or most tellingly for a comedy caper like this, wit. Too often Australian productions come off as amateurish and rushed and Stenders film is both of those things plus more with an abysmal scripting, unlikeable characters, plodding editing and one of the single most annoying scores ever committed to screen by Johnny Klimek (without exaggeration the score is almost too much to handle) and not even a name cast can save the film.Cast against type as a hit-man who likes to laugh (a lot) Simon Pegg is the single watchable acting presence in the entire production in which the likes of 300's Sullivan Stapleton, Warm Bodies' Teresa Palmer and local industry veteran Bryan Brown all meander about getting to chew on atrocious dialogue and get involved in increasingly unlikely circumstances. Perhaps they all signed on thinking this was going to be some type of Aussie flavoured Pulp Fiction but more likely they all saw the benefits of a nice paid holiday.With an insubstantial plot, a lack of any rhythm or rhyme and with a wasted cast, this nasty box office and critical flop is most defiantly not worth your time. A shame as there was potential here but in the end being killed once is more than enough as we're safe then, never having to watch this tripe again.1 why didn't I just watch Red Dog? out of 5
