I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Phew! It was exhausting just getting through the opening titles. Poor Liam, did he know what he was signing up for?

A world apart from the TV series in which it's based, nevertheless "The A-Team" is an exciting film that keeps you hooked from the very beginning. Whereas the TV series has Vietnam veterans, the film differs whereby it has Iraq veterans instead, an obvious change to keep with the modern times; whereas the TV series was very much rooted in the 1980's, the film has a clear modern day feel to it, with extraordinary technology and resources being the tools of choice, rather than creating homemade weapons and gadgets like in the TV series. Edgy and serious with a tense and gritty underlining story, whereas its predecessor was very camp and easy-going..., to watch the film you have to go into it with a clear mind and no expectations, if you expect it to be like the TV series then you'll be sorely disappointed, if you treat as though it's a film in its own right, you'll love it a Hell of a lot more. The casting choices were a bit dazzling, as much as I love Liam Neeson I could never see him as a Hannibal Smith, how wrong I was, the guy brought an abundance of acting brilliance to the role and made the character of Hannibal his own, refusing to copy or emulate his predecessor George Peppard, he instead crafted what could only be described as an entirely new character for a new audience, genius! The same could be said for Bradley Cooper's Face, the guy was nothing like the original, but forged a whole different character that fitted into the story perfectly.Alas the two principal characters that I found harder to accept were BA (referred to as Bosco during this film) and Murdock; the producers had to recruit a UFC fighter to play BA, a guy with the very little acting experience, and Sharlto Copley played Murdock but for me was unconvincing in the role, surely Jim Carey would've been a much better fit? "The A-team" is an excellent film, you just have to suspend your disbelief to get the most out of it, and try not to relate it to the TV series if you can help it.

I like the fact that they've been making movies based on "older" TV shows lately. This certainly fits the bill and doesn't disappoint. It updates it a little bit, follows the story of the show, and creates the movie like a TV show episode. Any fan of the show will recognize the characters and remember it and will certainly love it, and even if you're too young to remember the show, you will also love it! If you are a fan of action movies, this will satisfy you as there are plenty of action and shoot-em-up scenes. There are also in-joke references to the show and a role played by one of the actors in it. It was also well-cast with Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Jessica Biel. Overall, it you like movies like this, you will not be disappointed by this one! Check it out if you get the chance.*** out of ****

This movie is not as bad as the reviews make out. As a fan of the TV show, I was looking forward to the new movie. I'm gutted to say "The A-Team" is a mess. The characters have the same names, and they play the same type of characters. But that's where any resemblance to the popular TV show ends. The plot in a paragraph: A crack commando unit (The A-Team) is sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security prisons to clear their names.Oh no that's the voice over from the beginning of the TV show, except it really is the plot of the movie. Bradley Cooper is the star of the show as 'Face' and Liam Neeson (enjoying an Indian summer of stardom) is good as 'Hannibal' they are the best things in this movie. The other two members of The A-Team are fine, and Jessica Biel is OK too. Sadly the plot is drawn out, too much shaky cam during the action scenes, and its running time is about 30 minutes too long. Apart from the annoying shaky cam "The A-Team" has some ludicrous set pieces, including our heroes falling from an airplane in a tank! To give it credit, the movie knows it is childish. The PG-13 is appropriate. There's little actual gore, no sex and no R-rated language. A funny story is I expected "The A-Team" to do much better than the R-rated Sly Stallone led ensemble "The Expendables" released the same year. "The Expendables" walked all over "The A-Team" and got two sequels. Sadly the last one, went the same PG-13 route as "The A-Team" and appear to have been a franchise killer. I think if a sequel was green lighted, it would have been a much better effort the second time around. I think too much time has passed and Neeson and Cooper are both much more popular now too.A missed opportunity but still watchable thanks to Cooper and Neeson.
