Perfectly adorable
Brilliant and touching
It isn't all that great, actually. Really cheesy and very predicable of how certain scenes are gonna turn play out. However, I guess that's the charm of it all, because I would consider this one of my guilty pleasures.
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
A beautiful concept - poorly executed. The movie is filled with heart and love, but the visual story telling is at best, a mixed bag. The illustration of hell is overdone and somewhat cliche, personally I would have found it more interesting if they had made the mental aspect (even) more central. The ending is quite disappointing, as it really doesn't add much, besides of smelly cheese. However, the music is okay and the camera work is fine. The acting is quite good - and the redemption concept is well put together. Overall the film is fun watch, at least if you're hungover, or on a plane.
Probably the best movie out there now still to deal with the lies mass media spam everyone day after day in their seemingly eternal assault on truth, honor, higher love & self sacrifice.Since reincarnation is a rather simple basic fact of life, it was quite refreshing to revisit this decade old movie depictions of the lower astral regions where suiciders hang out and then those brilliant brightly colored higher causal planes & higher planes/heavens that St. Paul referenced in the 2nd Corinthian...'...caught up to the 3rd heaven" (since earth was hell back then during St. Paul's times) in this astonishing movie.Do see this romantic, but bogus 'soul mates' movie with your very favorite current lover if u want to really score something more permanent with him or her. Otherwise know 'soul mates' doesn't exist whatsoever in any reality, but great affinity/love certainly does eternally🎶💤
Amazing and original idea, beautiful cinematography, good acting, but, in my opinion, story is not developed enough. Just opening part, that prepares us for main plot, could be movie on its own. It may be to much to make series out of this, but there is certainly enough material for at least two movies. They should've developed opening part further until they end up with two parts movie, first part taking place in the world of living and second part about adventures of our main character after he dies. This way, lasting less than two hours, first part is too hasty and sketchy, putting us right into main plot unprepared, without enough background. Potential masterpiece restricted to good, but not great film.7,5/10
A little while back, I watched Jim Carrey's effort to be taken seriously after a slew of comedies, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". This is a similar effort (this time from Robin Williams), but not nearly as intriguing. For a basic plot summary, this film centers on the other-worldly experiences of Chris Nielson (Williams), who dies suddenly in a car wreck. He discovers that the hereafter is whatever his mind makes it, and thus rather peacefully resides within a painting of his wife, Annie (Annabella Sciorra). The only thorn in Nielson's "ever-after", though, is the real-world depression (and eventual death) of his wife. Then, when Annie is sent to "the other place", Chris begins a quest to save her from her darkest demon: herself. What makes this movie interesting to watch is the fantastic imagery. The visual rendering of heaven and hell are quite stunning, and not something you'll see in any other film. It is filled with color, pizazz, and great imagination.Unfortunately, the plot doesn't nearly measure up to the visual effects. It ultimately takes much too long to reach its zenith, and in between the viewers are left with some uneven emotional moments. Some will make you care and draw you in, while others don't have that desired effect.Overall, this is a decent film, but on that doesn't hold a candle to its nearest cohort ("Eternal Sunshine..."). Watch it for the stunning visuals, but don't expect much more depth.
