It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

I grew up with the GREMLINS films & absolutely love these films as I've watched them hundreds of times on my old double feature video!!! As much as i love Gremlins '84 my favourite of the two is Gremlins 2:The New Batch (1990) i just dig the whole new surroundings such as the big New York City high tech building that all the trouble happens in & the new look each GREMLIN has & that the legendary DICK MILLER is back in a bigger part & the FX are even greater this time & the whole atmosphere is fun & wacky but still with scares & only the BRILLIANT JOE DANTE can mix it up this good & make it great!!! A real childhood classic of mine that makes great late night entertainment That's full of fun & so rewatchable

This one has significantly better effects than previous and Gremlins are more realistic and scary. From the technical quality point of view it is definitely better movie. But it is also completely different movie and because of taste differences many will disagree with me on which one is better. While first movie has somewhat serious story line, tells the scary tale with some comic reliefs, second movie is more parody to first one than it is its sequel. Yes, story line picks up where first movie left, but tone of the film is completely different. It is not 80's light horror type of the movie any more, it reminds more of Scary Movie type of film. It is fast, fun, full of pranks and references to famous fantasy movies and characters, like Batman, Wicked Witch of Oz and many more. First one has much better story, but this one is definitely better produced and more fun.

Another Gremlins movie filled with chaos and fun that for some reason, is usually thought of as a bad movie! I don't understand why so many people don't like this film. If anything it should be thought as on the same level of good as the first. Gremlins 2 does exactly what you would want from a Gremlins sequel, it ups the chaos, introduces new and memorable gremlins such as Mohawk, Greta and Brain, and explores all new possibilities, such as mutant gremlins. But it doesn't just rely on the gremlins for it's comedy, it also has many extremely funny moments in how it does satire of TV and large corporations. It even makes fun of itself, making jokes based on problems from the original and the concept of the Gremlins. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoyed the original film.

I can't help but think that Joe Dante took on "Gremlins 2" so that he could poke fun at . . . well, pretty much everything. Like it's all one big prank. Not only does he put Gizmo through hell (again), but there are joking shots taken at Warner Bros., Leonard Maltin, a cartoonishly draconian corporate culture, and even the 3 Mogwai rules get made fun of. I'm pretty sure this is set in a cutting-edge high-rise just so Dante can delight in trashing the hell out of it.It's probably not as memorable as the first, but I do like a lot of the gags herein. Great mischievous sense of humor (*the theater hijacking was cute). I can see why they never went ahead with a third movie; when Rambo Gizmo takes on a tarantula Gremlin, that's probably as far as you can take this. Which isn't a bad thing; at least there's no more female Gremlin (shudder).7/10
