After a successful deployment of the RoboCop Law Enforcement unit, OCP sees its goal of urban pacification come closer and closer, but as this develops, a new narcotic known as "Nuke" invades the streets led by God-delirious leader Cane. As this menace grows, it may prove to be too much for Murphy to handle. OCP tries to replicate the success of the first unit, but ends up with failed prototypes with suicidal issues... until Dr. Faxx, a scientist straying away from OCP's path, uses Cane as the new subject for the RoboCop 2 project, a living God.

I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

I think "RoboCop 2" is one of the best sequals ever like "Terminator 2: Judgement Day". A lot of people were right. It was bizarre violent, underrated, and pointless dialogue, and especially too over the top. It didn't disturb me. I wouldn't care about that cheesy dialogue. But I simply enjoyed it, a lot of fun.

The only positive thing I can say about RoboCop 2 is that its special effects are good. The rest of the movie is just sadistic trash. It has (almost) every horrific thing imaginable. Everything from men pointing guns at babies, prostitutes stomping people in the eye with high heels, people getting cut open up while they're still alive, removal of brains, mass killing of innocent people, killing of children, foul-mouthed children, women getting their necks broken by mechanical drug addicts...it's a sick and nihilistic piece of trash, a truly evil movie, comparable to Death Wish 2, The Hills Have Eyes (remake) or Doberman. I didn't like the first one, but at least that one had something to say.(Zero stars)

This film essentially picks up where its predecessor left off with the cyborg known as "Robocop" (Peter Weller) going about his business trying to keep crooks off the streets of a dystopian Detroit. Unfortunately, there are two organized forces with vastly different agendas which interfere in his efforts. The first is a murderous drug-dealer named "Cain" (Tom Noonan) who has cornered the market on a new drug known as "Nuke" and he intends on selling it at all costs. The second major obstacle to Robocop's efforts to clean up the streets of Detroit is the corporation known as "OCP" who initially created him but now has plans to remove him in favor of other cyborgs which they intend to mass-market. Meanwhile, crime continues to be rampant and the police department can only do so much with the resources they have available. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was an okay sequel for the most part but definitely doesn't measure up to its illustrious predecessor. It just didn't seem to have the necessary attention to detail like the previous film. Be that as it may, while this film most certainly could have been better, I didn't think it was a bad movie by any means and I have rated it accordingly. Average.

Robocop 2 is directed by Irvin Kershner(The Empire Strikes Back). The film sees Peter Weller return in the role of Alex Murphy a half man/half cyborg police officer. Nancy Allen also reprises her role as Murphy's partner, Officer Annie Lewis. After the events of the first film Murphy is still coming to terms about his own mortality. This was a sub plot that started out with a-lot of potential that only Sci-Fi can do. Asking questions about when human conciseness ends and artificial intelligence begins. This was however quickly sidelined, in favour for a plot about a local Detroit gang pushing a new type of drug called Nuke. This gang is led by a man with a delirious god complex named Cain(Tom Noonan). This section of the film falls into all the standard clichés of an 80/90s Hollywood sequel. It has a half baked script that felt rushed into production. The action, whilst keeping it's over the top violent roots isn't as fun or engaging as the first film. It offers nothing new or original and is a let down from the interesting premise the beginning of the film had. After all the set up of the first film to build the characters of Murphy and Annie, they are completely sidelined in favour for the villains of the film. With exception of Cain, they are all poorly written and acted. They add nothing to the plot of the film. They feel like they were there too fill up screen-time that could of gone into adding more characterisation into Murphy or Annie. The biggest problem with Robocop 2 is that it takes all the subtle clever corporate America satire from the original, and bashes It over your head until you're dizzy, which Is the difference between a good film and a bad one.
