It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

The only thing that would improve this "movie" would be its own nonexistence. I won't insult any reader here by trying to explain plot or the characters other than everyone one on screen must have been deaf not to be driven insane by the main character's screeching and generally asinine actions. I am rather surprised that the other characters did not kill this dope Fred if for no other reason than to save their own ears. His high school counselor would even have advised him to blow his pea brain out. There is nothing, but nothing to recommend this holocaust of a film....and yet, l have learned that there are two sequels. Surely, a sign of the End Times--and Fred is at least three of the Four Horsemen.

Clearly another example of how easily and quickly movie studios run out of ideas, it should come as no surprise that this movie is easily one of the worst this decade. Nothing here is funny, intentionally or otherwise.Honestly, I don't even know what to say to this. This movie is a colossal, boring failure of the imagination and a total misunderstanding of the purpose of humor. A 16 year old acting like a five year old on crack quite frankly wasn't funny to begin with and is never going to be. Was there any effort put into the script? Go read the quotes section, and the answer you will almost certainly come up with is no.Honestly, this was a painful experience that I could have avoided if I knew it had a whopping 0% on rotten tomatoes. But there was nothing else on TV that day that I was allowed to watch. I still get the sense that I would have been better off watching American Horror Story. In conclusion, there are absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever in this movie. But keep in mind that if you have it, this is not a movie that should be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force.

Just so you know where I'm coming from, here are some of my favorite films: The Browning Version. Requiem For A Heavyweight. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf. A Star Is Born (1954). Once Upon A Time In The West. The Godfather. The Exorcist. See, I do have a bit of taste in movies. Now to Fred: The Movie. It is not a great movie. It is not a classic. Fred's voice is annoying. But it is NOT the movie that everyone seems to eager to jump on the bandwagon and trash.Yes, the story is kinda thin and dumb but there is redeeming value. For one thing, Lucas Cruikshank (Fred) is a hundred times more talented as a young actor than COUNTLESS others I've seen in movies and on TV who are all but holding their script in their hand as they robotically and phonetically speak their lines. Cruikshank is totally non-self-conscious and puts his all into every line or scene however dumb it might admittedly be.Jake Weary as Kevin is pretty funny, really. As funny as he could be with the lines of this admittedly not fantastic movie. But when he asks Fred 'Are you going to Judy's for a play date? Are you gonna do some of this?' and starts doing an apparent imitation of (well, some kind of sex) I have to admit I thought it was pretty funny. The parts of Bertha and of Fred's mother were really well played - again, within the confines of the script.Pixie Lott! Oh my gosh she is gorgeous. When Judy shows up at the pool in her bikini I thought "Wow, this is nowhere NEAR a junior high school student!" Fred has very good taste in women. And when Judy arrives at Fred's front door in the last scene and they show a close-up of her legs when she's wearing those high, high heels, I just about drooled. DANG is she hot! Too many years younger than I am, won't say what that makes me but wow she's good looking.I have seen far better movies than this one - but I think some which get decent reviews are garbage, and there are far worse actors than Lucas Cruikshank. You might hate his Fred character, many people do, but as an actor he is in fact talented. Chances are he has already piled up enough money off of his Fred character that he will never really have to work for a living. Hey, fine by me. The 'trash this movie' bandwagon is far too easy to jump onto, but really, it's not as awful as so many are eager to say. Hey, I am still only giving it a 3, but really I have seen much worse.

That was dreadful. At first I thought that it can't be that bad. Well, it is. It starts out with Fred driveling on and on about some tripe that is never mentioned or referred to again. Then it becomes creepier than Insidious as we see Fred's schizoaffective disorder - stalking a girl named Judy. When I say stalking, I mean having a notebook covered in cutouts of her photos, and confirming the path her car takes with his notes. His strange obsession with Judy doesn't end there as he believes that they are two halves of one and that she really loves him, and therefore they should live together forever. Suddenly, Judy moves into another house so Fred sets out on a journey to find his lost love. Now, this movie is not completely devoid of laughs... well, no, actually it is, but I did smile 2 or 3 times. Unfortunately those smiles were quickly killed by Fred having seizures in front of the camera desperately trying to be funny.Near the end, the movie turns into a montage of a fake party. Then it turns into a montage of a montage of the fake party, because they had to stretch the runtime somehow. I could not make this up if I wanted to. At one point, it unintentionally turns into something resembling Invasion of the Body Snatchers, as everyone in the school turns into Fred, because he is cool. You think is it some social commentary about our society? Is it really a misunderstood dramatic experiment? No, it's just really bad! It's something that was supposed to be on the videotape in the Ring! In the end it leaves you feeling empty, like something was taken away from you. Something that you can never have back.
