n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

adaptation of a book who gives more ideas than scenes. opportunity for Armand Assante to give a role who is far to be easy for the melodramatic way imposed by script. short, a nice try to give a story who has special beauty. the only sin - for this hard work , the director has not the right tools. and this did the film decent if you ignore the not reasonable tone from few scenes. "When Nietzsche wept" is the genre of book perfect for read it and not imagine versions of adaptation. this is the explanation for the sins of the film - the desire to say what only the silence gives.

This movie is very bad. Lets talk about it.This is a review meant for those who read the book. The movie is a direct visual 'reading' of the book. The scenes seem disconnected and poor. The acting doesn't reflect the depth of the book characters not even a small percentage. Nietzsche is too radical both compared to the character and the real one. Breuer is to 'violent' in his actions where in the book he seems more soothing. Things happen so fast, seems like the director wanted to fit every single line of the book in the movie. The movie feels like its going at the speed of light. This is not the quality of review I usually aim for but this movie needed a bashing. And it needed it urgently. The book is too amazing for such a bad movie.

The first thing to make you judge well is that you know this movie is built on a fiction novel just like "The last temptation of Christ", so it's not real and not meant to say anything about the real Freud or Bruer or Nietzsche themselves.you just have to fall deep into this good story and be sure it's a very touching one, as you know how a very strong man can cry over a moment, one moment.... nothing like you ever can expect.I found the dreams amazingly directed as you know most directors make silly dream scenes, and the music also was just a very wise pick since nothing made but just picked from known and famous classics, that made it closer to the ear.i suggest it as a-must-see movie

It is not a movie for everyone. I think this movie will only speak to those experiencing Nihilistic feeling that there is no truth, there is no meaning to life, to my life. Some might call it Mid Life Depression, but I think it is more common than some old guys living in fear of life unfulfilled.I think we are all afraid of death. That is why human created false beliefs of "God" - to create meaning, purpose, reason to our lives. The movie started with Nietzche giving a speech that "We created God, and now we have killed Him. God is Dead".Sadly revelation of the truth creates a gap that yearn for meaning, and when we failed to find that meaning, we started to think that nothing is true, nothing has value, nothing has meaning. The movie might be perceived as two old men's obsession with young beautiful women. But I think the women are just their yearning for a distraction in their despair to find that perhaps they have been living a meaningless life. This movie is profound. It is not for everyone. But if you have been wondering whether you have been living the right life that you want - you might be able to associate with the "madness" of despair that this movie portrays
