As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.

It might be less of a Horror episode, as most might expect it. But it's still "Horror" portrayed, even if not in the traditional sense. Dante does a very good job, with playing with your expectations and giving you something completely different. Try to stay open minded about it and you will enjoy this episode very much. If not, the result will be like the comment from another reviewer I read. The other reviewer expected a more Horror like episode. It's all about expectations. It is even more Drama, than Horror if you like to call it that. But it's the variety of it's themes, that made "Masters of Horror" so interesting (to me). A friend of mine felt the same way about this, but that doesn't mean that you have or indeed will like this Joe Dante effort after all.

The only reason I gave this episode of "Masters of Horror" a 2 instead of a 1 is because the two lead actors are good, and it wasn't shot on VHS. The story, the dialog, and the plot are ridiculous. Talking / Driving zombies who come back to vote and sway the political tide against the war! Give me a break! What next, zombies who come back to go skydiving? Maybe zombies who come back to host QVC shows? I never supported the Iraq war, but I do support the courage and sacrifice of the men and women of our armed forces; and "Homecoming" was disrespectful in that it mocks the TRUE horror of war. With zombies being mass produced in today's market... this is the SPAM of zombie-related entertainment. How "Homecoming" made it onto "Masters of Horror" is beyond me.

Having been a horror fan forever, I have come to expect as others a few good scares and predictability in the genre but what I do not expect to find are tears and sympathy. I enjoy horror movies because I rarely get scared if at all< comes from having worked in a county morgue as a youngster> and so am well prepared. However I was not prepared for what the director Joe Dante had in store for me in the restaurant scene< spoiler alert>. The scene entails a young, zombie, soldier wandering the streets in the rain because he has no place to go. Next a black café owner welcomes the young soldier in from the cold and invites him to rest. Him and his wife tell the young soldier they appreciate him, which surprises him and empathy is developed. The soldier finds out that their son is in the war and the parents show the zombie respect for doing what he did. Whether it was because the café owners were black and remember what discrimination is like or simply because of their son, the viewer is left to wonder but I was extremely touched. The acting was well cast and on a scale of 1-10 tyger tails, I give it a 9/////Tygerprince///////

I can get over the political parody; even if this was SUPPOSE to be a "Masters of Horror" flick. But, what I can't get over is the blatant usage of our war heroes (and their sacrifice) as pawns in some washed up horror maker's political statement. To me it was purely insulting to desecrate Arlington, and our heroes. I have family at Arlington. The idea that this guy (Dante) would even portray the Arlington graves being disturbed just makes me want to puke.I'm done with Dante, and done with MOH.
