The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

Scott Wheeler's Attack of the Killer Donuts has the perfect combination of scary and comical. With man-eating donuts on the loose, friends embark on an adventurous trip where they try to save as many people as possible. The witty banter between the two characters made the movie unbearably funny. The comedy in this film was brought out by the film soundtrack. The action scenes when Johnny (Justin Ray) and Michelle's (Kayla Compton) fought against the donuts was downplayed by the scoring making it more comical. I'd recommend this movie to young adults who like self-aware horror films.

Next time you're at a donut shop you may side-eye your next snack. Scott Wheeler's sci-fi horror comedy, Attack of the Killer Donuts is both frightening and ridiculously funny. From the very beginning, Wheeler has managed to captivate his audience's attention with his graphically intense intro and upbeat original theme song. He does a fantastic job at holding your attention hostage in the film with his use of ridiculous satirical humor, absurdist physical comedy, bloody action packed scenes and of course a dash of young love. Wheeler has managed to concoct the perfect ingredients for the recipe to a unique body of work in need of it's own genre. You DOnut want to miss out on this fun film, guaranteed to make you laugh!

OK, so the special effects are complete crap. The movie has that B-Side smell to it, complete with kinda bad audio and editing. But- it was completely redeemable. It had a perfect mix of horror movie elements, the right amount of comedy, and a happy resolution at the end.Yes, the "killer donuts" were laughable. Yes, the acting was very immature. Yes, no fancy sets in this film, and the actors were probably all the director's high school friends. But I actually did enjoy it! The bad special effects were entertaining at least, the characters were exactly as they should be- hero, his lovable sidekick, the girl who pines over him, the snotty girlfriend, the quirky customers who come into the donut store, the overbearing donut store owner. It worked well. I'd like to see more from this director and whoever wrote the film- a true cult classic!

This movie is stupid, but if you are even here, you pretty much know that. Its about donuts that gain sentience and kill people. Again, no surprise that this isn't Ben Hur. The acting is passable, the female lead Kayla Compton as a standout and is a better actress then this movie would suggest. I assume in 2022 after becoming a more mainstream actress and getting better roles, she will be teased for being in a movie with such a ridiculous premise. Again, basing this review on you are already aware that this movie is about killer donuts, Im reviewing it as such. The cgi donuts murdering people don't look so bad, and are as believable as your desserts coming alive to kill you can be. Some comedy horror movies are actually devoid of comedy or jokes land flat. There's some solid laughs here too, if you aren't going to be too judgmental of something with rainbow sprinkles on it trying to kill you. I've seen a lot of b movies and turn 60% of them off halfway through. I got through this with some friends and had a good time.
