WWE New Year's Revolution 2007 (2007)

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

Another lame offering, NYR has been shoddy in 2005, 2006 and yes 2007. With the exception of one match (DX vs Randy Orton and Edge) the fans didn't care about matches like Kenny vs Ric Flair or the Tag Team Turmoil match.The DX vs Rated RKO match should have been the main event in my opinion not the John Cena vs Umaga match. Granted The Cena vs Umaga match was OK but could have been booked better.Results from the show: Jeff Hardy beat Johnny Nitro in a good steel cage match. Kenny pinned Ric Flair via a roll up in a lame match with a terrible finish. Cryme Tyme won the tag team turmoil match which also included The Highlanders, Super Crazy and Jim Duggan, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin and Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, fans popped for Chad's pinfall most probably they were relived this epic bore had ended not because it was a great match. Mickie James pinned Victoria in a decent match. Rated RKO and DX went to a non finish in a superb match when Triple H's leg gave way on him. Chris Masters pinned Carlito in a useless match. John Cena beat Umaga in a so so match to retain the title.Overall Grade - B/C

This PPV could have been better but it was better than all the other ones.Match 1: Johnny Nitro Vs Jeff Hardy IC TITLE This match was at times boring, but you have to love the ending. WINNER: Jeff Hardy RATING: 7/10Match 2: Tag Team Tumoril A bad match in my eyes. WINNERS: Cryme Tyme. RATING: 5/10Match 3:Kenny Vs Ric Flair This match was okay but wrong winner. WINNER: Kenny. RATING: 6/10Match 4:Mikie James Vs Victoria WOMENS TITLE I don't like many women matches but this one had potential but it was bad. WINNER: Mikie James. RATING: 4/10Match 5:DX Vs Rated RKO Tag Titles Very good match to bad about Triple H. WINNERS: No Contest. Rating: 8/10Match 6: Carlito Vs Chris Masters Could have been good but it was bad. WINNER: Chris Masters. RATING: 4/10Match 7: Umaga Vs Cena WWE TITLE A good match but it did not match there one at the rumble. WINNER: Cena. RATING: 8/10. SHOW RATING: 85/100

Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro for the IC championship - Nice match with both men getting to it, there was quite a hassle on the ropes even though the cage wasn't used that much until near the end… Nitro is climbing the outside cage wall and he's half-way near the cage's door; Hardy is inside the cage and just in the nick of time he kicks the door open and docks Nitro's crotch on the sill! Hardy then uses the door to get out of the cage and retain the title! Actually both men used good resourcefulness in this match. 8/10 (4 points of this just for the ending) Tag Team Turmoil for a World Tag Team Championship shot - Nothing too exciting for the match kind, just mediocre. Shelton & Haas work around with the Highlanders and Shelton finishes Robbie with a superplex. Jim Duggan & Super Crazy then also get eliminated this time by Haas – I wasn't quite paying attention when it ended. Trevor Murdoch & Lance Cade then end the World Greatest Tag Team after Cade whooped Haas from behind and allowed Murdoch to take the pin. Finally enters Cryme Tyme to perhaps the only cheer of the match. The thugs work it out nice until they clock a G9 on Cade and Shad picks up the pin to win the World Tag Team title shot. 7/10 Kenny Dykstra vs. Ric Flair – Nothing very wrong with missing this; Flair gets suplexed quite a bit and the two men exchange low blows pretty often. Kenny wins after a low blow followed by a cradle. 5.5/10Mickie James vs. Victoria for the Women's title – I always move over these things and so did nowRated-RKO vs. DX – Easily the most anticipated match of the night with gripping build-up, the dudes didn't fail to deliver. Michaels, Orton and Edge bled during the match and Triple H somehow injured his knee. Orton delivered two failed RKO's and Michaels even proceeded to knock out the referee and then battered Rated-RKO with chairs. Edge was given a Pedigree on the announcer's table while Orton got put through the Spanish table after a Michaels' elbow drop off the top rope!Interesting: sometimes one can clearly see that the chairs hit the guys' hands not the face still they were bleeding quite, especially Orton who actually took more deflected shots than Edge. The match ended in a no contest. 8/10 Carlito vs. Chris Masters – Why the hell is this promoted ahead of DX vs. Rated-RKO? Anyway an okay match with the men performing their styles. Carlito once again did some good aerials although Masters should really try something other than using sheer body. Masters won after grabbing Carlito's tights for the pin. Never mind Torrie. 6/10WWE Championship John Cena (c) vs. Umaga – First of all thanks God that the WWE decided not to use that Cena-Defies-All-Odds technique during this match. Cena for most of the time had difficulty with Umaga's size, and at a point even landed face-first on the mat after picking Umaga for an F-U. The match was laced up with some nice reversals and Umaga was quite versatile with his wrestling techniques. But of course it's a WWE match so Cena somehow wins after a ROLL-UP (that's right, a roll-up on Umaga) out of nowhere! 8/10Overall a very good card even if it didn't live up to Armageddon. Definitely not a bad way for the WWE to open up the year; the steel cage match and the main event were easily the best matches of the night even though the Rated-RKO vs. DX match should have had an appropriate ending (perhaps it was due to HHH's legitimate injury). The rest of the matches were in the mediocre-good range. PPV rating: 7/10.

WWE started of 2007 with a strong pay-per-view offering by recent standards. The Kemper Arena was the scene for one of the more intriguing main events of late. John Cena was headlining the show putting the WWE Championship on the line against the undefeated Samoan Bulldozer, Umaga. Add a little Cage match for the Intercontinental title, one hell of a grudge match for the Tag Team titles and a "Kill Bill" style storyline for the Woman's Championship and things were looking good for the fans in Kansas City.Like Armageddon, New Years Revolution opened on a gimmick match. The Steel Cage was lowered for the battle between Johnny Nitro and defending IC Champion, Jeff Hardy. The match was as good as to be expected with a lot of high risk and highflying manoeuvres which went back and forth. The cage wasn't really used much to injure either man; it was more used as a piece of furniture for them to jump about in. The ending came when Nitro, who was trying to escape over the cage, fell crotch first onto the Cage door as Hardy made his exit. I don't think this feud is over yet.A bonus match was next on the cards. A Tag Team Turmoil match for the No 1# contendership to the Tag Team Championship. The action was good when Haas and Benjamin were in the ring but failed and seemed to drag on once Murdoch and Cade eliminated them. Before their elimination Haas and Benjamin eliminated The Highlanders and Hacksaw and Super Crazy. It was Cryme Tyme who entered last and that advantage gave them the win.Ric Flair lay down for Kenny Dykstra in match 3. This was an average match to say the best. WWE is obviously grooming Kenny for big things. Dykstra used the low blow and small package to do away with Flair. I also need to point out that Flair looked ancient in this match.Victoria was unsuccessful in her attempt to take the Woman's Championship from Mickie James. This was a good match that was mainly in favour of Victoria. Melina tried to get involved towards the end but out came Maria and Candice Michelle to stop her. Mickie picked up the win with a bulldog. After the match all the divas that Victoria had done away with over the past six weeks celebrated with the Woman's Champion. Nice touch.Match of the night honours goes hands down to the bloody battle for the Tag Team Championship. In a math far more superior to any DX battle since their reunion they went to a non-finish with Edge and Randy Orton. This was fast paced, exciting, brutal and just down right nasty. It should also be noted that HHH injured himself seriously in this one. We can only hope that the leg injury he received will not keep him out of the ring for too long. Orton, Edge and HBK all bled heavily in this match.Chris Masters defeated Carlito in a good match but the crowd really weren't into it straight after the bloodbath before it. Masters won with a handful of tights. I don't know why WWE want to push Masters over Carlito.Then came the main event. Another physical championship match this time between Cena and Umaga. This match was all Umaga; Cena played the role of the human crash test dummy brilliantly. He made Umaga look like a monster in this one. Credit to WWE. It would have been easy for them to make this go to a double dq or count out to keep both the steak alive and the title on Cena, instead they did the right thing and Cena stole the win after moving out of the bulldozers way and pinning him 123 with a cradle.So 2007 is up and running and it got of to a pretty good start. All the matches were as good as could be expected or as was the case in the main event, much better than what we could have hoped for.
