A Major Disappointment
A lot of fun.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
The writer must have been high on ICE to write this sort of crap and the director must have been his suppliewr
I thought it would be a continuation of Pacific Rim which was great! I haven't been so disappointed by a movie since I was a kid. The acting was very poor, cinematography was by far first grade level. I couldn't watch past the first 20 minutes of the movie. Who did the CG?? Might as well been watching a cartoon, the Jaeger's did not look real. Definitely didn't live up to Pacific Rim!!!
Well I guess that Asylum is by now notorious for taking a coming blockbuster and quickly making a cheap version with similar name, if it is to fool the audience and hoping to make some money in people watching these by mistake, or if it deliberately making these b-movie adaption and hoping them to become cult or just making a fan base for them, I don't know, maybe it is a bit of both.I had to see it, just to see what they had done, I liked Pacific Rim and didn't think this would do anything better, I was right... ...this is one of the worst ones I have seen, the big monsters, the Kaiju is particularly bad and the inside of the robots looks like something from the eighties or nineties. There are some fun elements not in a comedy kind of way but in a sad and bad kind of way, mostly it is bad effects, bad acting, very cliché and just not working at all.
Atlantic RIM delivers exactly what you'd expect from a PACIFIC RIM rip-off knocked out by notorious production studio The Asylum. It's a film packed to the brim with nonsense, featuring some pretty bad CGI monsters and robots and robotic dialogue to match.I like del Toro's PACIFIC RIM; it's a rip-roaring homage to the kaiju flicks of old. This is nothing like; instead it's a bland, soulless production that concentrates too much on simply trying to join the dots than to deliver a decent piece of stand-alone entertainment. The performances are uniformly poor, ranging from the non-starters (like Treach, who was also in the horrendous THE ART OF WAR III) to the weary veterans (Graham Greene, a long way from DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE).The CGI shots are as cheap and amateurish as you'd expect, but at least when the fights start Atlantic RIM does keep you watching - if only a little. But it's in the various supposedly dramatic dialogue scenes where this really falls apart, slowing down to a fatal crawl from which it never recovers.
