It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

THE HUMAN TRACE is very low budget crime thriller about an undercover cop investigating a series of mysterious murders in a small American town. There's a conspiracy angle to the story and elements of interest dotted throughout, but the whole thing is so cheap and amateurish that it's not a film you can take seriously.Josh Sumner takes the lead role and doesn't convince as a detective for a moment, either in appearance or performance. He kips in a house and talks a lot to people, and that's about it. Attempts at scene-setting are limited and the film has little to no atmosphere for what should be a suspenseful production. It's hardly worth the effort to tune in, in other words.
