X: The Movie (2000)
It's the year of destiny, and 15 year old Kamui Shiro, a powerful psychic, has returned to Toyko after a 6 year absence, having left when he was very young. He wants to be with his childhood friends, Fuma (his best friend) and Kotori, Fuma's little sister (and Kamui's possible girlfriend). He wants to protect them from all dangers, but destiny and fate are haunting Kamui and pulling in himself and his beloved childhood friends. It is his destiny and his sole decision to decide the fate of the world, no matter if he wants the role or not. Now it is a matter of if he will join the side of the Seven Seals and become the Dragon of Heaven to save mankind or join the Seven Angels and become the Dragon of Earth to destroy all civilization so the earth can heal itself from man's destruction.

I am a huge admirer of the graphic novel series this adaption is built upon and really can recommend X-1999 by CLAMP to everyone for it truly is a masterpiece.This film, however, was a complete waste of time and I cannot believe that CLAMP actually agreed on summing up the immense plot of the comic books in to one film that is not even two hours long. Because in my eyes it is not the apocalypse aspect which makes the series so absolutely amazing but the detailed characterization of each of the characters, which was here left out completely.Even the artwork is unable to compete with the visual beauty of the original work.This film left me completely unsatisfied!
This is a dangerously complex movie, most would say the matrix ripped it off. X/1999 is a movie about the end of the world, nature vs. mankind, and whether or not humanity is even worth saving. Kamui is set with this decision, after his mother's death he goes back to Japan to see his best friends Fuma & Kotori. Where they're attacked by the "dragons" of the earth(people who believe man must die for the planet to live) & defended by the dragons of heaven(obviously fighting for humans over the earth) X/1999 is a complex movie especially considering they place hours of plot from the original TV series into this 2-3hour film. Definitely a must-see if your an anime/matrix/intelligent fan.
'X' really isn't the great movie I expected it to be. The first time I watched it,I didn't read the manga, so I basically could not understand nothing about the story: I only watched deaths. And that's what this movie shows: deaths. Being totally the opposite of the manga where we can understand each character and know their stories,X the movie is not very well elaborated and we only have a preview about the great characters that are behind all the story. Because every single character, being a Earth dragon or a Heaven dragon is important and interesting. (specially, in my opinion,Fuuma, Kamui,Seiichirou, Subaru,Yuuto and Satsuki). I will not even write what the plot is all about, because the movie really stinks for everybody who really enjoys X' mangas. By the way, go read them instead of watching this film.
This is pretty much the best anime series i have ever seen, however as with all anime series YOU MUST WATCH IT IN THE ORIGINAL Japanese it has a great and unpredictable storyline and does not drag on forever sop watch it NOW. :-). The main character is Shenwei or Kenwei, or some variation depending on who did the subtitles for a particular section and he has been born to either allow the sky or earth dragons to either end or save the world deciding on who he sides with. The two side have cool members with different very original abilities, with each one having a good reason for their respective causes but as always there is a twist meaning the ending could easily go either way. the series is series, while also having light hearted funny moments to lift the mood, definitely well worth a watch!
