In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Shot in San Antonio T.X. in the summer of 82, this by far is one of the best concerts highlighting the band at there peak. From Spotlight kid To Smoke on the water you can't ask for more. This is one of my favorites because I was there and witnessed it and had the privilege to meet the band. The reason for meeting the band was because of the camera men taking my seats for the filming of the show. Which was third row center. This video is hard to find in great condition. The company who released it went under years ago. Maybe someday we will be blessed with it and other shows on DVD. Until then I could only hope. Long live Rock and Roll.

So starts this wonderful, atmospheric record of a San Antonio concert given in 1982 by Rainbow (then made up of Ritchie Blackmore, Bobby Rondinelli, David Rosenthal, Roger Glover and Joe Lynn Turner, and two years before their break-up).Taking its name from their then current album, Straight Between The Eyes, the stage is dominated by the large eyes which move, flash light, and explode when required. The set list starts with 'Spotlight Kid', a highlight of their 1981 sessions, and moves quickly through to showcase numbers from SBTE, including 'Power' and the superb 'Tearing Out My Heart'.The special thing about 'Live Between The Eyes' though is the energy that comes across. Nigel Gordon's film is packed with atmosphere, knowing when to move the camera in close and when to move back. The edits between the members of the band are very well done, and work perfectly in numbers like the Blues jam and the Beethoven 9th rework.Just what a recorded concert should be. One of the best I've ever seen from a band who were in their second flush of greatness at the time.
