P.S. Let me clarify a few things first! I am not a Kareena Kapoor's (aka Bay Bow's) fan or even an admirer of her Zero Image! i.e. "Size Zero Figure". The last movie of hers which I liked was "Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai". After hearing it from different friends and colleagues and reading from some of my gurus and friends from "Blogging fraternity" I was convinced that apart from Kareena Karoor, there is nothing much in the movie to watch! And this might be the reason why I planned to watch it, to see how good has she evolved as an actress and has she really stopped her "hamming style" and "oh so sexy pouting looks". Anyways, I was surprised! Not by the movie but by the people whom I used to consider sensible and critically sound when it comes to movie making and Hindi Cinema. This is amongst the very well made movie of the current times. I agree to the fact that the movie has nothing much to offer subject wise or story wise but when it comes to direction, dialogues and acting. It is really an impressive attempt by Madhur Bhandarkar, who does not need any introduction. There is not much to tell about the story of the movie. It's simple yet predictable. People initially also related "Heroine" with Angelina Jolie starrer "GIA – 1998" but that's not the reality at all. Let me quickly get back to the reason why I am attempting to write this "kind of review" for "Heroine". First – To all those people, critics and cine-goers, who think that this movie has nothing but Kareena Kapoor, please get yourself seriously treated. There is a huge list of amazing performers who stole the show and performed astoundingly. Arjun Rampal is a volcano of talent if utilized properly. Right from the days of "Moksh" he has the ability to perform complicated roles. And this time he is over the top, his outburst after the party where Kareena insults his wife is natural. The other scene stealer is Randeep Hoda. This guy is a surprise factory – watch him interacting with Kareena in the party where he makes the move and then watch him breaking up with Kareena. Spell bounded. Sanjay Suri is always adequate with his eyes and expressions when it comes to any role! The guy must be offered more roles! He will surprise you in post interval with his tone, looks and authoritative style. The best part of the film is when Kareena goes to Ranbir Shorey. That scene is amazingly shot. Ranbir Shorey as "Tappan Da" is flawless. He comfortably reminds of those self made Bengali directors who ruled the Hindi cinema back in late 70's and early 80's, crisp, blunt and appreciative. Shahana Goswami is great in small but strong appearance. The aftermath of her and Kareena's encounter is amazingly shot and acted! Divya Dutta is getting type-actress! But here she performs really well. Govind Namdev as "Rashid Bhai" doesn't have much dialogues but you can feel his presence with his expressions. Helen's scenes will show simplicity and experience of a veteran. The other scene which is the highlight of the movie is when Shahana takes Kareena to a brothel with her. The communication which takes place there simply tell the real world of those "red light" alleys. Smartly penned Last but not the least Kareena has really performed well. She looked psycho, hot, manipulating, simple and broke. After all, whole film rested upon her shoulders so she had to perform apart from flashing her skin, which she did quite well. Niranjan's dialogues are clap worthy. Screenplay is strong. In a way Heroine is a combination of different scripts of Madhur Bhandarkar's earlier releases like Chandni Bar, Page Three and Fashion. But all in all a nice entertaining fare!

Heroine was a film with plot holes and subsequent weak script but was watchable thanks to stupendous and courageous performance by Kareena Kapoor Heroine tells the story of a an popular actress who has everything - beautiful looks , fame , money but still has a very lonely and depressing life due to insecurity as she goes through the various phases of living a Bollywood Dream Directed by national award winner of Chandni Bar , Page 3 and Fashion , Madhur Bhandarkar misses the mark with this film. The film begins on loose ends confusing the audience about the story. Frankly speaking , 1st half is a complete bore and hopeless. However , the silver lining is few grasping moments in the 2nd half coupled by Kareena's brave performance makes it worth-watching at least once. The theme of the movie was good but Bhandarkar's repetitive introduction of character right from page 3 till heroine makes it realize as if you are watching the same movie. Screenplay has lot of loop holes . Story is boring. Art direction is just about OK along with cinematography. Music is decent with Halkat Jawani being the pick of the lot. Coming to the performances , it is Kareena's show all the way. The gorgeous actress proves her mettle and goes one step further to display her histrionic character with aplomb. Shahana Goswami, Divya Dutta and Randeep Hooda were good in smaller rolesOverall , a movie that had potential to be a great film !!! Though the film is titled Heroine but Kareena is actually the Hero of the film. Average 2 / 5

There are a lot of negative reviews about this movie, but I differ, in a movie people always want new and entertaining things no matter what, but complain when people show them how they get that. And more importantly forget that they themselves made the film industry like that. And that's that.In short - This movie isn't so bad, as a movie maybe not so good, but it's a lie if someone says it isn't realistic. We see this ALL THE TIME in reality, that's why people got bored seeing it again. At last, it comes down to people didn't like paying for watching what they do on News or Bollywood channels.Starting with performances:- Before I go any further; Kareena is the best. No matter if you like this film or not, Kareena has done a REALLY good job; 10/10. The main guys are Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda, Arjun as usual hardly shows any emotion, but his role is the main. Randeep has a smaller role, but well played. Divya Dutta might be annoying but acts fine, Mugdha Godse has a small okay role. Shahana Goswami is nice. But the second best in this film after Kareena is Ranvir Shorey. He's AWESOME in his portrayal of a Bengali "realistic" film maker, his role is short but well done with his "Bengali" accent. There's also Helen in small role and some others. There are some people from Fashion also and they actually feel like Deja Vu and shouldn't have been here.Yes, it's similar to Fashion. The story is the same but with a heroine, her rising, falling and desperate trying to fix up and mess up. Only difference that everything is EXTREME here. From scenes to details of tricks, unlike Fashion which shows overall happenings, this goes into lot of details of cheap publicity tactics and relies heavily on relationships. The movie should have been titled "The Dirty Picture Behind The Picture" instead of "Heroine", get it?People dislike the character Mahi, as she just whines and throws tantrums in the whole movie. She's arrogant, insecure and emotional. But people are forgetting something - she's supposed to be SCHIZOPHRENIC. And THAT'S how they are. We should give the character some credit.Moving on to the story; It's nothing new. As I said, we see those all the time on news. From the publicity stunts to the relations, everything has happened with real people. And you tell me, when News channels have nothing to show they do a 1 hour show of a celebrity's relationships, and not giving any attention to an old star in their life, they do a whole week specially dedicated to them when they die; and people STILL watch it again and again. Instead of celebrity's films, they talk more of their love lives.People say the first part is more entertaining, but I don't think so, because at first it's just Mahi and others bitching to each other. I didn't feel any compassion for Mahi, but it gets better in the second part. Although it's melodrama and lots of twists which are predictable as that's what happens in reality. There's lot of profanity and sexuality. Movies 'Fashion' and 'Race' look like "U" rated films in front of 'Heroine' even though they were "A" rated too. I'm comparing this to Fashion because, as said it's similar, and I DON'T MIND it. Why? Because it's in the same industry! Actors all the time walk as models and models become actors. I always expected Heroine to turn out like this only. Just HOW could anyone expect something else? Fashion was different because we see models everywhere in Ads and magazines but don't even know their names and let alone personal life, but we know EVERYTHING about film stars so that's why people got bored watching it again. Now, the songs are good, but not in the film. Terrible choreography, destroyed the only 2 songs which weren't background music.People call the characters here stereotypes, but audience is the most stereotype as they OBVIOUSLY don't know how stars really are and how hard for them it can be. The bad thing about this film is that they didn't show any good sides of Bollywood.I wouldn't call this the best film ever, but definitely not worst. At least not brainless movies like 'Ready' or 'Tees Maar Khan'. And don't make me start on those COUNTLESS useless unknown films. People should appreciate psychological films. Those art films get high acclaim even though they don't have any entertainment, so why hate this one so much?Okay, lastly even after saying all this, I STILL don't recommend watching this film in cinema hall. Wait till it comes on TV, every movie seems better on TV. But if you really want to watch it for Kareena, then get the lowest priced ticket in morning shows on weekdays. In that way you won't lose much. It's actually not a "time-pass" film, but okay if you have a mood to watch a movie in halls.Wrapping up this review; my verdict - 6 out of 10 = 3 or maybe 2.75 stars out of 5 to Heroine.

The movie is all about Kareena kapoor AKA Mahi's life .. Story is same as Dirty Picture but more boring!! Amazingly world's whole tragedy happens in Mahi's life. :P There are only some good points in the movie which are:- Superb acting by Kareena 10 on 10 You will feel the glamor of bollywood.. Good support by Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hudda... Despite above qualities there are many flaws in the movie like:- It is very depressing and sad. Story is nothing new.You can say this is glamorous version of Dirty pictures.. You can not feel reality anywhere unlike Madhur's other movies. Whole movie is predictable!!To conclude Heroine is a average movie with old and depressing storyline..
