S.S. 'Coptic' Sailing Away (1897)
“Shows the vessel after she has been fully turned and on her way across the Pacific. The boat shows large and clear with smoke coming from the stack. In the foreground is a constantly changing crowd of people composed of men, women and children. Action is added by some late comers who rush to the dock to wave their last farewell. Life-size, sharp and clear.” (F.Z. Maguire catalogue)

It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
S.S. Coptic Sailing Away (1897) Edison was good at sending cameramen to various ships and filming various actions. The S.S. Coptic got a handful of films and this one here, as the title says, shows the ship sailing away. The camera is set up behind a small group of men who are watching the ship leave. At less than twenty seconds there's obviously nothing too ground-breaking here but if you're a fan of these early films then you'll probably want to watch this one. It gives you a good shot of the ship leaving but it also gives you a great look at the people there just to watch the ship pull off.
