Mountain Men is a comedy/drama that follows two estranged brothers, Toph and Cooper, as they journey to a remote family cabin in the mountains to evict a squatter. Buried resentment and bruised egos soon derail the plan and when the smoke clears they've destroyed their car and burned down the cabin, leaving them stranded in the cold Rocky Mountain winter. With their very survival at stake, they must learn to work together as brothers to get back to civilization.

All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.

The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.

The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Absolutely wonderful! One of the best movies I have seen in years.Let's face it most movies these days don't even try and 80 percent are horror stories about vampires and werewolves.This movie reminds us of what family means. Touches on a bond between brothers, growing up, responsibilities and survival skills. Topping it all off with the breathtaking beauty of the wilderness. Beautiful shots of the Rockies.I especially love Tyler Labine since I saw him in this, Best Man Down, and Someone Marry Barry.I think if you go into this movie with an open mind, not paying attention to reviews - either good or bad, you will be pleased you took the time to watch.

Bought this on Netflix and pleased we did. Well chosen cast played things naturally which, with the restrained unflashy directing, made great use of the atmosphere and amazing location.Chace Crawford and especially Tyler Lebine do an excellent job of carrying the movie, which is 90% a two hander.It has some laugh out loud moments which I won't spoil and a nice set up and exploration of family tension. Overall a good movie and one I would recommend. It also does the Canadian tourist industry no harm, as we want to visit now!

One word: Hilarious. A better one? Meaningful. This is not like most comedies I've seen… usually I hate comedies but Mountain Men was actually pretty good!! The script was not cheesy and the plot centering around a city boy that comes home to his country brother—and the two of them trying to work together—was unexpected in a great way. This film is a lot better than most on the big screens because of the connection between the brothers and the measures they take to survive together—that definitely makes it. Films with adult siblings are always deeper to me because of the underlying history between the kids, and this film is no exception. The concept of their deceased father communicating with them in the present, one newly pregnant girlfriend and another missing in action, and the intricacies of their relationship after so many years apart definitely brought some insight to me.

Watched this on the plane ride back from Toronto. What a surprise! Unique plot, great acting and awesome scenery! Wasn't sure if it would keep me awake on the flight or not, but it sure did (which was a good thing!). Although the plane rated it as comedy/drama, I would have to disagree... drama all the way. Thank goodness for Canadian content! The two main actors did a great job. They remind me of two famous Hollywood actors, I'm sure you'll know who I mean... I mainly came to IMDb to see who the actors were and where it was filmed, but then decided that this film needed another review! I will be sure to watch more of the Canadian films when on my next flight. I encourage you to do the same.
