Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is one of the best filmmakers we have, Mission Kashmir was a Diwali Release alongwith Mohabbatein and Hrithik who was a heartthrob after KNPH was released though FIZA didn't get much attraction. Mission kashmir is again like Fiza A terrorism film but treated differently The film starts well with Sanju loosing his son and running pilar post, Jn Hrithik shooting Sanjay Dutt and then after 10 years the older Hrithik shooting him in the office are brilliantly handled, Jackie's introduction is well handled, though the terrorism angle could be more elaborate. Yet the emotional scee between Hrithik and Shonali is fab, even Sanju confronting her after meeting Hrithik and her death are brilliant, Sanju cornering Jackie and the finale are superbDirection by VVC is amazing Music by SEL is good, Rind Posh Maal, Bhumro are good, while Udit and Alka's duets Socho Ke Jheelon ka and Chupke Se are good too Amongst performances Sanjay Dutt after a series of gangster roles did a stellar role and is simply outstanding, his emotional scenes are simply brilliant, he lends the right maturity to the role,Normally in films like Khalnayak, Kartoos, Jung Jackie played the lawkeeper while Sanju the lawbreaker here both had a role reversal, Hrithik Roshan in his 3rd release is superb and does a great job though raw in some scenes, however his role came too close to FIZA where too he played a terrorist. Jackie Shroff is amazing as the villain which is underwritten Preity Zinta is decent, Shonali Kulkarni is amazing in her role though she is of same age as Hrithik, Puru Raaj Kumar leaves a mark in a cameo rest are all okay

The recount of the story and actors performances are admirably commented by your reviewers. This is to add something else (maybe only for the director Chopra). On action: it is an impressive Indian film (8/10). On acting (8/10). On direction (8/10). All these votes are on the Hollywood standards. But Hollywood "once upon a time" had great moral conviction with an enthralling story as the vehicle. "Mission Kashmir" doesn't have that conviction. It is action a la James Bond etc. That is full of action, well acted and exciting. However, Kashmir the country is something else. That something else is foreign to America and Hollywood - one will have to wait for the films on 9/11 (the first foreign attack on American soil) for a renaissance of in-depth traditional and emotional Hollywood treatment. India has had 60 years to ponder about Kashmir and director Chopra has not handled the in-depth part but has gone for the modern Hollywood ethic of getting a hit that makes money. As so many U.S. stars repeatedly now say, the name of the game is money and marketing. So on enlightenment about Kashmir a note of 5/10. Afterall, one hopes that a sensitive director as Chopra will decide to provide insights, emotional and intellectual, on difficult societal issues of India which academic writers fail to reflect satisfactorily. This also assumes that politicians can be influenced by pungent emotive films with a message. Mission Kashmiri proved weakest on that important message, and so remains a superb action film to be seen for the other reasons so well noted by your reviewers.

Vidhu Vinod chopra returned to his troubled homeland to shoot this tense action thriller, which turned out to be an international blockbuster, ranking among the top 50 rentals in the US and dubbed into most major languages around the world. Mission Kashmir deals with a policeman father and his militant son, pitted against each other, making personal the political tragedy that is Kashmir. Its use of cutting-edge cinematic techniques and state-of-the-art sound direction marked the arrival of Vinod as a fully international-caliber feature film director. This is the best Indian movie on terrorism in decades...the IMDb employee don't understand the power of this cinematic masterpiece, that is why so less points for this movie,it should be easily more than 8.0......I am amazed that a total cheesy movie like Khakee has 7.4 in IMDb but not Mission Kashmir.

this movie depict the strong ethnic tension in India, which was a result of the partition after they gained independence in 1949. the issue of Hindu and Muslim conflict emerge after the British colonization. We can see the struggle and nightmare of the innocent children who were really affected by the conflict. In connection to this, I admire the musical score(its fascinating) and the amazing cinematography, especially in the river scene where the Arabic words(signifies Islam), face of Jesus, and the submerged LOTUS. That scene really struck me, the brilliant director try to emphasize that HINDU will perish after the missile is released. Generally, this conflict is a result of a devastating colonization; in fact its like a disease that has no cure (a cancer in a sense)
