This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

ANurag Kashyap is a rare find to bollywood, his every film has been mostly contrioversial but yet somehow had something different to tell BLACK Friday was banned in India and released 2 years later in 2007 The film is based on real life incidents regarding the bomb blast in 1993. It is told in an episodic fashion and keeps going back and forte and is well handled, The film may seem documentary like but makes a great impact, there are scenes which shock you, while Badshah's story does have emotional moments, the film shows us what went behind the bomb blast.Direction is superb Music is good, the song Bandey is simply superb Camera-work is topnotch, the film tries to recreate the look of 1993 and is well handled though certain goof ups too are there. The film has rare talents explode Aditya Shrivastav one of the finest talents though who hardly gets focus in films, gets a meaty role and he delivers and how! Simply mindblowing, his expressions convey a lot and so does his dialogue Kaykay Menon is splendid as Rakesh Maria, Kishore Kadam is fab, Nawzuddin Siddiqui has a brief role and he is good, Divyendru Bhatacharya is good in a small role,Pawan Malhotra is topnotch in his role,Vijay Maurya is topnotch as Dawood and resembles him well, though his portions look carricatured, rest are all good

If I would be in jury, I would have given all major awards to this superbly created gem.its beyond award actually.i started to watch this movie in 2008 first, then at least once in 5 or 6 months I watched it, again n again alone or with friends n whom I told or requested to watch n feel this movie.i changed mobile , computer, now tablet, but I restored this single movie with me.i challenge that no business minded men will like this movie, because they think by mind n money, this film is for whom who has heart which beats for human and can feel all untold story and feelings of poor, minors, and each and every person in pain n trouble. Hope I could work with Anurag kashyap with my many stories which would certainly change the film making style and Indian cinema will be well watched n discussed in all over the world not only in UK, USA n some cis countries n not only by NRIs.thanks for this movie. Waiting for my show.....

Indian films are rarely based on books, and they heavily account for their bad screenplay. Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday tries to portray everything the way it actually happened in Mumbai blasts, or at least as the book says it happened, and succeeds! Unlike most other films of this genre, this film does not hype terrorism, or romanticize the darkness of Bombay, or the coldness of its police- but portrays exactly what happened in reality. The usage of actual news footage of the events add realism to the tale. It takes courage to take names of some of the biggest name in underworld and Indian politics as bluntly, and the filmmaker shows that courage. The story doesn't point finger on any particular person, group or community as the culprit for what is still Indian crime history's biggest tragedy. It gives a strong message, right on face- the terror, the attacks, the explosions, the riots inhales not any particular community but the whole humanity.

Anurag's best directorial work is this movie which actually gives the feel of police files documentaries. The movie is about the detailed investigation of the 1993 Mumbai Bomb Blasts which claimed hundreds of lives and created a communal rift in the country . The movie is divided into parts and sections which gives a step by step analysis about the entire planning and implementation of the infamous attacks. The concept of the movie itself is very engaging and riveting, and AK had given all his expertise in the making of this one which shows on the screen eventually. It is clearly seen that he has done ample research on this matter and as a result all the characters become alive before us. The mention of some of the people involved in the movie had irked a controversy, but their mention is a necessity .Overall, a superb documentation of the past without trying to give any sort of message or preachingRating : 8/10
