If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

This movie has a good concept and social criticism. I understand it but don't think you have to be a genius for this. Or that the movie is for whom understand. This is the ultimate bullshit when someone try to defend something. The execution is awful. Could be a matter of culture, but they can't show emotion. The acting is bad. It is the kind of movie that don't worries in make any sense, provided that the concept was spited to the audience. The only message I will take with me is that I must kill myself for have a bad taste for music (some people for movies).obs: Are those songs anesthetics? Why the child on the phone (presumably a minion of the crap band) has to clear his/her throat every damn line?

Japan is in trouble. Bunches of youth are in a suicidal mood. They jump before trains and they even jump from buildings and that's exactly what we see here in this flick with a message. For a Japanese horror it is low on gore but it's full of sputtering blood. Just watch the opening sequence with the girls jumping before a passing train. The red stuff flies through the air against the train itself and the commuters standing on the platform. We even see people jumping from the roof at a school and it also has a bit of black comedy like when an ear is hanging on the wall from where one jumped to death. A strange flick that you will like or dislike if you don't get the message. Not a typical horror for the lovers of Japanese flicks. I did try not to spoil anything, go figure it out yourself if you really understand this flick.Gore 1/5 Nudity 0,5/5 Effects 2/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5

This weird low budget Japanese film asks, Are you connected to yourself? To understand the concept of this movie you have to understand Japanese culture a bit. In Japan, everything is much more group related and being solo means you're likely to be cast aside. The story starts with a memorable scene in which over fifty high school students jump to their deaths in front of an oncoming train. A series of suicides follows which baffles investigators. I won't say much more on the story in risk of giving anything away. Reportedly shot for around $250,000 on 35mm is impressive and certain scenes were shot without formal permission. Ironically, the train station at the opening of the film where teenagers die has had some real life suicides associated with it. Spooky. The film isn't perfect and it's a bit hard to keep track of certain characters sometimes but the overall effect is pretty powerful. It did stir up some emotion in me. Check it out!

I just finished watching the film and went straight online to see the reviews hoping something will come out of it. It is true this movie had some metaphors and it doesn't deliver everything straightforward but it was really a mess! If you are going to say something through metaphors and symbols your structure should be SUPER SOLID so every "symbol" adds up and connects to each other. A lot of people claim that you have to know the Japanese culture or be a Buddhist (or whatever) to get the film which I believe is totally ridiculous! Even the "what happens when you die" belief the Buddhists have is widely known all over the world (it is not 300BC anymore). This film did not mention that it is for Japanese Buddhist only and if that was the case then the director the writer and everybody else simply failed to deliver their message to a wider audience. It is very easy to throw stuff in a movie and then just say it means something whether it is "the poor pop culture" or "the love of animals" or even "Christmas! (the scene were the police officer has the last bag of flesh and he is covered in Christmas lights". At least if you are going to be absurd about it and just talk with symbols do it like Alejandro Jodorowsky did on his masterpiece Holy Mountain - meaning leave the detective story a little more to the side and prepare us for it.Conclusion - The movie tried to tell a detective story with a deeper meaning/message. The connection of the detective story with the symbols was a failure as they were just all over the place. IMO There are no symbols or concepts or topics in this film concerning only the Japanese Buddhist Asian etc culture - yes we pretty much have the same concerns, society problems and worries over here too (And chickens and Christmas lights and tattoos and stupid pop bands). I give 5 cause they tried. You can watch this film if you want but i wouldn't recommend it.
