It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

There are some fairly atrocious films we can just about suffer through; while others at least have one or two redeeming elements to them. Unfortunately, there are also those pieces of cinematic garbage we can't believe we actually wasted our time watching. I'm With Lucy sits firmly in the latter category. In fact, it's safe to say this dumb-ass, straight-to-DVD chick-flick is among the most tedious, tiresome efforts ever committed to celluloid. The plot, such as it is, is a simple though not entirely bad one. Well, if the likes of Sex and the City are your idea of an evening's entertainment, that is. It concerns Lucy, a 30-something native New Yorker who is about to get married. Her best friends want to know what exactly led up to that moment so Lucy explains that she had five blind dates in the previous year and decided to marry one of them - but which one? The film then proceeds to show us snippets of Lucy's dates with the aforementioned guys, who include Luke (David Boreanaz of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame); Doug (John Hannah, Sliding Doors et al); Gabriel (Mexican heartthrob Gael Garcia Bernal - Y Tu Mama Tambien, Motorcycle Diaries); Bobby (Anthony LaPaglia - Murder One, Analyze That) and Barry (Henry Thomas - ET, Suicide Kings). Each date has their own individual traits and pluses and minuses, and the point of the film, it seems, is to guess which one Lucy finally fell for. Problem is... the film is so dull, the characters are so one-dimensional and the dialogue is so flat that, odds are, half-way into this film you won't give a monkeys who the dumb blonde finally picks to walk down the aisle with her. Which is a pity in some ways, for, as chick-flicks go, a reasonably good concept was wasted here. Not to mention the criminal waste of genuine acting talent such as the excellent Garcia Bernal. In a nutshell, do yourself a favour and avoid this film as you would hope to avoid bird flu.

I had never seen Monica Potter before. She is adorable in this film, somewhere between Julia Roberts (as I think other folks have suggested) and Juliette Lewis. As a woman though I watched this Rom-Com (remember such films are not deep and shouldn't be deep, and are really only intended as a 'lech-fest')rather more for the fellas. And on the whole they're an extremely nice looking bunch. The idea of the film is that the dumped Lucy is set up on five blind dates by her helpful sister, and in intriguing snippets we watch how these dates work out. Perhaps the only real problem with the film is that it's obvious from the moment he comes on to the screen who the ultimate lucky guy who gets to marry her is going to be. That said I must give Henry Thomas and Anthony LaPaglia special mention for being so entertaining throughout. This is a nice little film for a wet Sunday afternoon: just right to raise your spirits.

The movie was good not brilliant, I've seen Monica Potter in other films and yet this one just did not sit well with me. I love romantics but this film i got bored quickly. Maybe because I was hoping to see more of David Boreanaz (the only reason I watched the movie). I was very disappointed with David Boreanaz's character, looking forward to seeing him in this film but he did nothing for me and just thought he could have had a better character. He looked hot as ever no doubt, but i was not happy especially at the end I thought no why did he not play the one she ends up with?, that to me would suit him more. I love David he is my favorite actor at the moment and i will always wanna see more of him. I know the movie is more focused on Monica being the main character and all, but when you watch a movie because of an actor that you enjoy watching, and they don't end up as you like the movie can sometimes be a disappointment. I do recommend the movie to people who enjoy Monica she played well and I enjoyed her character. This is a good romantic!!!

If you love romantic comedies, this is definitely for you, and if you don't like them, this might just convert you! I'm with a Lucy has a refreshingly original concept, because it is totally unlike typical romcoms, as there aer 5 potential leading men instead of 1! Lucy is a newly single girl who is still unhappy after being dumped by her seemingly perfect boyfriend in a lift. Over the course of the year, pushed on by her sister and best friend, she goes on 5 blind dates. It is revealed at the beginning of the movie that she is marrying one of the dates. The film is about the 5 dates she goes on, and it is not revealed until the end who she marries, so it is thankfully not all predictable like so many of films of thid type are. In fact it's such a great idea, I'm surprised no one thought of it before! This is totally uplifiting, funny and really sweet film, and not at all pretentious or silly or irritating. Potter is great and not at all annoying as you might expect from some comedy actresses, as in this film she is a bright, witty and wise girl, and all the men are great, what a brilliant range of men all in 1 film. Even guys might like it! Please see this, you will pleasantly surprised and uplifted. It's just a shame you can't buy it in England!
