Dreadfully Boring

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

In this prequel to Ring, a young Sadako becomes an actress in hopes of escaping her troubled past. But strange visions and terrifying powers begin to manifest. Ringu 0 is truly an actual zero since it was probably the biggest letdown and most boring prequel that i have ever seen in my actual life since nothing actually happened in this movie except the fact that this girl in the end fall down like 50 times every 3 or 5 seconds and that's the premise of the film, a total, colossal and quite just boring nothingness that doesn't do anything or offer anything. This prequel to RING tells the story of the unfortunate Sadako and her eventual demise, events that led up to the mysterious videotape curse that we know so well from the Japanese films and their American counterparts (the importance of the videotape is never explained, though, which is slightly disappointing). It tells a story that's entirely different from the formula we know so well from RING and RING 2, which is great because I think the format was starting to get a little stale during the second movie.RING 0: BIRTHDAY is a slow build drama with plenty of suspense and foreboding to retain the viewer's interest. Sadako, as played by Yukie Nakama, is a sympathetic character often at the mercy of her fellow students. There's an element of CARRIE in the narrative, with Sadako depicted as 'other', forever at the mercy of the in-crowd and classed as an outsider by pretty much everybody else. Nakama does a really good job of getting the viewers on-side.Strange, inexplicable events start occurring as the story goes on, until a dramatic set-piece that really pays off the tension that's come before. Then there's a final, all-out-horror half an hour which takes place in a woods and is more of a full-blooded body-count type affair. Although Hideo Nakata didn't return as director, he isn't missed with Norio Tsuruta ably handed the reins. If anything this is even more subtle and sedate than the previous two films in the series, but that seemingly laidback style hides an eerie, unsettling atmosphere. The scare sequences are well-handled and effective, and overall I felt this was a fine way to tie up the original trilogy.

I found this to be an excellent movie. First of all, this movie is really terrifying. This movie might even be almost as scary as the original ringu. There were a few interesting scares during the second half of the movie and there were a few jumpy scenes as well. There were more scares in this movie than the original ringu, though as a whole this movie isn't as scary as the original. The ending for this movie was a very sad and scary one. Basically, this movie explains why Sadako ended up being thrown in the well. This movie is electrifying, and is interesting that some of the scary scenes took place in the forest. There was one scene where Sadako seem to even twist her own body. I thought that was terrifying and rather unique. This movie starts of being very interesting for the first twenty minutes, then continues with some long draggy and boring dialogs showing how Sadako and the other man build up their relationship slowly. The scenes that took place in the theatre just got draggy after the first twenty minutes. However, let the show take a little while to grab you. Halfway during the movie, it grabbed me, and I could not stop watching this film. This film is both electrifying and relatively sad. Another major complain I have about this film is that very much like ringu, the scariest scenes in this film take place entirely during the day and not at night. This eases out a lot of tension and fear when I watch the movie. Other than that, this movie has an interesting storyline, an interesting idea, a relatively touching film. This film is recommended. Score: 8/10

Rasen tried its hardest to create an entertaining novel-based movie. Somebody learned their lesson...Ring 2 tried its hardest to live up to Ring by explaining way too much. Somebody learned their lesson...Ring 0 tried its hardest to create a human-driven drama, while adding in the horror the series is well known for. Somebody knew their lessons! You will feel emotionally for Sadako. Her performance, played by Nakama Yukie, is absolutely beautiful. She is able to manipulate your mind into feeling sorry for her, and then watching her in fear, and then feeling sorry for her... it's just one crazy ride. Unfortunately, we all know what has to happen in the end... sounds like Carrie. This movie, fortunately or unfortunately, is more drama then horror... sounds like Carrie. In fact, there is only a couple of scenes that will scare you. We learned that this character we have feared is just another tortured woman with an unfortunate life... sounds like Carrie. The acting in this movie is just great. The characters are too convincing. Too bad some people dislike this movie for the same general movie. It's slow burning. What this means is that it takes just about forever for the extremely exciting climax to start kicking in. For some, they just die for the suspense and do not feel cheated. For others, they just get so sick because they are bored out of their mind. The latter could be you, so take caution.Sadako has just joined an acting troupe to "restart" from he old life. Unfortunately, a woman who's husband died at the infamous psychic test with Shizuko Yamamura, and is hell-bent on tracking Sadako down. The problem is that the Sadako she finds is a young girl who is clearly a "freak". The other Sadako is blamed for the mysterious deaths at the troupe. What is going on? What's with two Sadako's?You owe it to yourself to watch this film, put up with the subtitles, and enjoy it
