a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
The plot of this movie is an abomination. An agonising creature, writhing in pain, begging even for deliverance. It's not a pretty sight. Were they trying to document every possible movie cliché? If so, it's a commendable effort: they've not missed many. The characters act in ludicrously illogical ways, one of them is thrown in solely to awkwardly preach nonsensical views directly to the viewer... a rattlesnake even randomly shows up to serve as a plot device. As a form of entertainment, "The Sunchaser" fails on every level. But it's worse than just a bad piece of entertainment: it's the kind that (insistantly) advocates belief in quack remedies, faith healing and various other forms of absurd mysticisms (including astrology!) and that kind of message is borderline criminal.Watch something else. Anything else.P.S.: Electricity does not neutralise snake venom of any kind. It can only make matters worse.
Sunchaser may not have been the best "shot" film... meaning camera wise, but the general idea (plot) was one of the Best. People may say it's just another "road trip" movie, but you haven't seen a "road trip" movie with a plot like this, which by the way... is very Unique. Which in turn, makes for a GREAT movie. I loved this movie when I watched it. I love this movie Now, even after 7 years. I am sick and tired of the same movie over and over again, same movie... different name... BORING. Sunchaser is NOT the same as ANY movie I have ever seen, so if you like to watch DIFFERENT movies, check out Sunchaser, I am pretty sure you haven't seen anything like it, and now a days... that's the problem with movies. Right? Right. 100(*'s) for Sunchaser. Thank You to the director, producer, cast and crew. You guys did a wonderful job. Hopefully you'll consider maybe a "re-make" of the movie, but based in the 2000's (LoL) that would be SWEET :D Anyways, Thanks guys.
This is a sad story about a boy who is dying of cancer and how he kidnaps his doctor, for him to bring him to a holy place that he thinks can save his life. The movie shows how the boy is not willing to give up hope about finding the holy mountain where he can rest his sole. You can't help not feeling sorry for the 16year old boy,and especially when you hear about what he has been through.Woody Harrelson plays one of his best roles ever as the doctor who starts to believe in the boy and are willing to sacrifice everything to help him. The young boy is played by Jon Seda who does an amazing job. This is a great story that teaches you not to give up hope and fight for what you believe in.See the movie and find out what I mean.
Within the first 15 minutes, Cimino firmly establishes that Dr. Reynolds (Harrelson) is a Bad Person(tm). How do we know this? He's successful in his work. He interrupts conversations to take calls from his wife. He worries about house payments. He drives a (*gasp*) Porsche. Baaad Dr. Reynolds. Dr. Reynolds needs 16-year-old murderer Monroe (Seda) to help him get in touch with his spiritual side. Monroe's half Navajo, so he's just naturally in tune with that sort of thing. Ugh. Having enjoyed Harrelson's other films, I was caught unawares by this self-righteous load of trash. Avoid at all costs. Or rent it with Heaven's Gate and get together with a few friends for a do-it-yourself MST3k double feature.
