The Ten (2007)

A brilliant film that helped define a genre

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

this is not a academy award winning movie.....it was meant to make us laugh or at least smile. in my case it worked. the idea of the movie is well thought of and the actors and actresses are all good. sure its not serious material but the Adam Sander....Eddie Murphy.....will Farrell movies aren't either. i wouldn't see it too many times but i liked it. i think the people who hated it are either prudes or people with no sense of humour.......they prolly prefer pee wee Herman or Mr. bean. oh and i admire Paul Rudd....he can do anything. the sequence i like the least was WINONA RYDER part.....didn't make me laugh at all. did this movie do good at the box office....im french and i don't think the movie ever made it where i live. thank you

Not much to say, just an ill-made collage that tries to make itself look funny. A wanna-be biblical satire that only reminds you of the excellent "The Life of Brian", it borrows from the absurd-comedy elements the Pythons so wonderfully made use of, but fails badly because of the sheer stupidity of the jokes. I find it obvious that any enjoyable comedy movie has this one thing The Ten lacks: wit. No, you cannot be funny just by being stupid, and no, if you pick a subject like the Ten Commandments to make fun of, it won't compensate.I usually sit-through a movie, no matter how bad it is, and so i did this time as well. My final conclusion was: disgustingly stupid; or, better yet,: I really should tell others not to waste their time on this.

Yeah, lot worst unfortunately, and should writing a review about this movie be a further agony or maybe revenge for the wasted 90 minutes and making a serious damage to the mood? I don't know, the movie is bad beyond imaginable, which with a cast like this you think it's impossible. I mean the actors did a good job, but a scenario, plot or any kind of idea would be welcomed. There are bad movies in which you feel what the director is trying to do but fails, usually partially, sometimes completely, but this time you got no clue what a hell is going on. However in all this madness there are a good jokes I admit, that even made me laugh, that were quite enjoyable, but the lack of taste and direction buries them deep under pile of rubbish.If You want something really good that draws inspiration from the bible, that is inventive, funny, with all the ingredients that lack this mess, check Serbian film "Seven and a Half".

When my friend and I originally rented this movie, we turned it off about 30 minutes in when someone walked in and pointed out that my friend was asleep and I was staring blankly at the table.SINCE THEN however, we have both watched the movie dozens of times, and laughed until we hurt EVERY time. We now both own it (since the rentals were adding up to some hefty bills) and we watch it together whenever we can. It gets better every time.This may not be for everyone, apparently many people were not impressed. But it's a special kind of humor that not everyone gets. I'm sure, even after watching it so many times, there's still stuff I miss. I love it, and for the people who can fully understand the comedy of this movie, it's a definite TEN.
