I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

Mother, Jugs & Speed generally wouldn't be what you think it is. Normally it would sound like some sort of 1970's big time racing car movie. I originally thought that it would be that when I heard the title of the movie. Instead of all that though, you get this pretty memorable comedy starring Raquel Welch, Bill Cosby and Harvey Keitel. The premise is very original, being just a rivalry between two different ambulance companies that eventually sort things out. Most of the laughs directly come from Cosby, his performance as Mother is pretty hysterical with his catchy 'Show Business' line. Of course you also have Raquel Welch as Jugs and Harvey Keitel as Speed, so the cast is also well put together. Anyway this should definitely be worth checking out. In the words of Bill Cosby's character Mother, Show Business!

In a domestic, peacetime context, and it's partially successful. The same existential, near-nihilistic ethos (competency is pretty much the only acknowledged value) as that in "M*A*S*H" pervades here. Bill Cosby is basically a black Hawkeye Pierce. Despite several nods to 70's feminism, the "Jugs" character is basically another Lt. Dish. And Larry Hagman's character is a straight knock-off of Frank Burns, with male chauvinism substituted for religious fundamentalism. Nevertheless, many of the gags and much of the dialogue are (usually darkly) hilarious. The film does convey the tragi-comic atmosphere of the inner city, much like Scorcese's "Bringing Out the Dead." The acting is generally superb.

Truly a comedy classic with Bill Cosby & Rachel Walsh. Timeless workplace comedy. I loved the year of 1976. This movie was a part of my little world of 1976. A feel good movie. I was starting out in the work world and as funny as the movie is, it also teaches young people about the workplace and getting along with different personalities. Alan Garfield plays the typical boss we all know and have the love/ hate relationship. It has love between the actors Harvey Kietel and Rachel Walsh. It was all you were expecting about life as a teenager. Hopes of happiness, excitement, Love, and friendship. And prepares you in comedic way how your dreams become reality.

I am not going to say that afore mentioned message by some guy in oklahoma is wrong, but he is. This movie is by EMT's, For EMT's and firemen, and about EMT's and firemen. Yes this movie is an exaggeration in some points, but think of it this way. One of the great comical ( and touchy feely with his hands) comedians in our time does a fine job in showing us what the heart and soul of EMT's and Firemen are like. We are people, just like you, and you, but apparently not like sissy girls like the man above. We are the most professional and customer service oriented in the industry ( customer satisfaction for us is the customer living, not selling old men their underwear like oklahoma boy does). We love what we do, but once in a while, after months and years seeing what we see, things like this movie portrays happen once in a while. And it keeps us going the next day to save someone you love. God bless this movie. It lets us laugh when all we want to do is cry.
