Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
If you've seen the ad for this HBO original movie lately, it shows Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (who's name is in the title even LOL) as the drill instructor of a hardcore group of young men in a military-like bootcamp, rather than being shipped off to do ten years to life in the pen--Sorta reminiscent of his movie, "The Gridiron Gang" . Well, yes, he shows up at the beginning --for like TWO minutes, and then is like, SEE YA -- I'm OUTTA here! LMAO So yes the TV spot -- little deceiving, however, stick around, this is a good movie, despite his absence! LOL I even thought this story might make a good big-screen dramatic film -- hmmm, the casting?? -- maybe Andy Garcia, Jamie Foxx.... Dwayne Johnson perhaps?? Haha
It was quite refreshing to see a positive view of young people who made bad decisions. Contrary to a previous review these kind of programs work when the instructors deal with not only the physical aspects but also the need for a psychological transformation. Teaching anyone how to just obey orders without breaking down and healing the reason they weren't in the first place is bound to fail. Most "boot camps" teach how to obey orders while there then expect the person to change when released. The original disrespect for order is never discussed. I enjoyed this image.
There is no research covering 20 years that indicate that Boot Camp programs for juveniles reduce recidivism. Almost all jurisdictions have abandoned these programs because they are ineffective over the long term and the liability of the injuries inflicted by staff.Hey rock "can you smell what I am cooking?"
Excellent documentary. I am happy to see a program of this nature succeed. Do not let Donald Trump see this. He will want to cut the funding.Hopefully these young men will be able to turn their lives around. I did not know that the Rock was a graduate of this program. It certainly did not do him any harm.
