Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.

The story rolls out in just the right pace, keeping the focus to live up to the title, making the viewers assume the good things. Yet the twist comes and crashes all expectations. I like how the plot diverts the viewers' expectations from anticipating something good into getting curious about what will happen next. Yet the twist comes in a less surprising manner that it doesn't really depict the big disaster impacted on Erik's character. I like how the later parts of the movie where Erik reconciles his relationship with his son. Despite the child depicted here is a kid, the scenes will serve as a good educational material for teens and older children in the matters of trust and family relations. Although I must also say that the family content doesn't really focus up until near the end of the movie. Josh Hartnett acted just an average performance here in my opinion. Yet I like how Samuel L. Jackson get into character, making up the voice for the homeless champ. Kathryn Morris and Dakota Goyo did a nice job in giving the live on the family scenes that this movie critically needed.

This is one of those films, that have a lot to offer but are lost somewhere under the overpowering dazzle of films with breath-taking special effects and cutting-edge action. 'Resurrecting the Champ' is a film that stands there silently, waiting for someone to notice.Leaving all the facts aside, I saw the film, only as a film. I did not watch it to weigh the truth of the story. I watched it to watch a film and ended up watching a film that was worth every minute of my time and attention. Its great story and remarkable acting in all pack a fantastic 'punch'. The story twists in the most unimaginable way. At first you disagree with this 'twist', then, like the protagonist, you are left with no choice but to agree with what's being played out in front of you. You, stand alongside the protagonist to accept the faults and make a change that's here to stay.

I had saw this movie advertised but never bothered with it.Then i decided to give it a go as i was bored. It was a heartfelt and very touching story. It was sad to see a former champion who had lost everything and was getting his chance to get back in the spotlight.Samuel L Jackson really stood out in this movie.Even Josh Hartnett gave a decent performance.Rachael Nichols stood out as well i thought.Teri Hatcher of Desperate Housewives gave a nice performance. Also all the cast were great acting in this movie.I really enjoyed it.Its sad to think that former champions and heroes really fall apart and that sometimes there is not life after the ring in this case.I could see that the actors and actresses were actually trying their best in this movie to give the best performances that they could give.

Resurrecting the Champ. A tale about men; drained of valor. The true story behind this movie is so admirable I wish I was the one who wrote the play. "It may all be a lie, but the movie is about true friendship, and the true bond between father and son." Whether you've had a good relationship with your father/son or bad, this movie will most likely bring tears to your eyes.I have always thought Josh Hartnett ("Erik Kernan") is a great actor, and I have always thought Samuel L. Jackson ("Champ") is a great actor. But I honestly can't tell if Samuel L. Jackson is playing his role remarkably good, or if Josh Hartnett is the one to make Samuel L. Jackson' role look good. Maybe they are, in fact, a perfect match for television.
