It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

I enjoyed this film quite a bit. Of course it's far from perfect but it is pretty good the way it is. The movie poster is so misleading because it only shows Vince Vaughn and Kevin James but this is not your typical lighthearted Vaughn/James comedy vehicle but actually an ensemble dramedy with some dark humor. Jennifer Connelly and Winona Ryder are just as important in this film as Vaughn and James, so they should be on the poster. I suspect many people expected a very different, more comedic movie and rated it low because it didn't meet those expectations. The ratings should be higher if you ask me. Give this movie a try if you can enjoy unconventional comedy/drama hybrids.

I really enjoyed this movie. Not really a comedy, more of comedy drama. The performances all around really were terrific. Especially Vince Vaughan, Kevin James and Winona Ryder. I'm a huge Winona fan and enjoyed seeing her in this. I think over all the best part of this film was the direction and photography. It was really spectacular and showed a very high level of skill from director Ron Howard and his director of photograph. Very well done. This is a film with a story - no explosions, no special effects - a rarity in this day and age when audiences require ten deaths, 20 explosions and some kind of digital enhancement to be happy. A person who truly knows what film is about, and I'm not talking desk jockey film critics that appear in newspapers, will really know how good this film is.

(Plot) A man finds out that his best friend's wife is having an affair behind his back, and will do anything to uncover the truth. The only thing that truly stuck out about this movie was Channing Tatum's hilarious cameo. Other than that, this movie was exactly how I pictured it was going to be; completely mediocre with very little laughs or fun. How is it that the extremely talented and luscious Jennifer Connelly is in this movie? Its way out of her league, and it was so disappointing to see her waste her talents in this. Same goes for Winona Ryder, even if her career has faltered a bit. I can't stand Kevin James, and I dislike Vince Vaughn. I gave this a chance, hoping I might end up being proved wrong. It turns out my gut instincts were right on this one. It's crude, unfunny, and a film that shows nothing but contempt for its audience. It truly makes me sad that movies like this get released often these days and make copious amounts at the box office. Except this one wasn't so lucky… It bombed somewhat, making only 48 Million.Final Thoughts: If it shows contempt for its intended audience, why not show nothing but contempt back for it? I'm easily amused, and it still didn't get the job done. Not recommended3.5/10

If this were marketed as a serious discussion on the boundaries/obligations of friendship and difficulties caused by infidelity, I would say, yeah it pretty much hit the mark, but as a comedy. it left a lot to be desired. Usually, if a comedy is this bad, I mention the music. But I really didn't notice the music. What I noticed was a lot of very angry people and nothing close to funny. One of my college professors once said no conflict/no story. As far as this being a serious drama, this story seems to try to manufacture needless conflict in every relationship it details and fails to make any of this conflict interesting. Jennifer Connelly, Vince Vaughn, Wynona Rider, Channing Tatum, Kevin James, and Ron Howard wasted their talents here, shockingly.
