It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

I felt really tense while watching the movie and it really portrayed the importance of a healthy relationship. People who are fond of a "come-back" films will really enjoy this one. And most of the married couples might relate to this movie.I felt thrilled at first on what will happen but while watching it i just realized that it really is fun . Some woman would really relate to it and maybe be encouraged because the story tells on how strong a woman is. How powerful a mothers love . Mostly married couple would love this and maybe learn from this.

Jennifer Lopez, Bill Campbell, Dan Futterman and Juliette Lewis star in this 2002 drama-thriller based on the novel. Lopez (Selena) plays Slim, a waitress who finds romance with stranger, Mitch (Campbell). Soon, they move in together, get married and have a daughter, Gracie (Tessa Allen). Slim learns that Mitch isn't the charming guy she thought, when he not only cheats on her, but physically abuses her. Slim finds herself in a nightmare of desperately trying to get away from him with Gracie. Futterman (The Birdcage) plays Slim's ex-boyfriend, Joe, Lewis (Natural Born Killers) plays Slim's best friend, Ginny and Fred Ward (The Right Stuff) briefly appears as Slim's father, Jupiter. This is a pretty good film similar to "Sleeping with the Enemy" with tense and dramatic moments and Lopez & Campbell are great in it. I recommend this.

I knew someone who liked to say: "An eye for an eye? A HEAD for an eye." Did he write this screenplay? It's like someone accidentally bumps you and you shoot them dead! But first you mash their face up a lot before you kill them, to maximize their pain and your lust for cruelty. People say, "what about his domestic violence against her?" Well, what about her's against him? I guess because he cheated, he deserved to be murdered in the first degree? This movie says our criminal justice system is worthless, essentially non-existent. It says the same for our system of social workers and shelters. Other than being a violent Lifetime-type movie made for vicarious thrills of seeing other people getting it, it does a disservice to abused people. Since the only solution is 1st degree murder, since nearly all people won't do this, and the social safety net is said to be worthless, an abused person will be left feeling helpless.

Waitress Slim (Jennifer Lopez) falls for Mitch (Billy Campbell) and marries him. They have a child together. He's a psychopath and starts beating on her. She runs away with help from her friends. Only Mitch is relentless. This is a relentlessly Lifetime movie. There isn't any motivation other than these are psychos. There's a reason why the courtship and much of their relationship is skipped over. A careful examination is never in the cards here. Then the movie goes Rambo. Director Michael Apted is trying to find a way out. It goes into a convoluted idea of Self Defense. If she was going to kill him anyways, why would she go through all the hand to hand. It was maybe a 5 for most of the way, but the ending is way too ridiculous.
