This Is 40 (2012)

Too much of everything

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.

The movie being all bout mid-life crisis of a cou Or who deal with some what very common problems faced at the age 40. The movie could have been a lot more interesting if the screenplay was far more nice and quick with the storytelling. This would've been nice if it had much more screen time of Melisa mc.

I really didn't like it. Maybe because it's a bit too close to the truth to be funny or maybe because it simply isn't that funny. Nice idea but it's so cringeworth seeing the good cast go through this painful script.

I have watched this movie over 20 times and every time I watch it, it impresses me more and more. Every line was very well thought and acted. The stuff they go through is what the majority of people go through living in America. However dislike this movie, don't understand the concept of the movie or they are looking for an old school comedy that actors are trying to make you laugh, this movie is just natural and true. . Extremely entertaining and hilarious. I guess the actors have acted on plenty of movies together before, so they know each other and it's obvious they get along and it shows on their acting. The bleepers after the movie is over is amazing too. The fact that the movie is long is a great fact, the movie makes you want to know more and more about the life of a 40 year old couple.

about a bad marriage. I originally thought this was a different movie and had high expectations...then ever so slowly I realized I simply MUST have gotten it wrong. I had to have mixed this movie up with another, an error in communication. My brain, eyes and ears paid the price for this egregious error. Nothing about this is realistic at all. If you're 40, you've more than likely scrapped that bad marriage somewhere in your 30s. It was excruciating to sit through just over 2hrs of this garbage. I want to take a guitar string and whip everyone in the face - including those irritating children. Whose children behave in the manner these two did? Everything was super exaggerated and ridiculous. What kids continue YELLING AT FULL VOLUME, SCREAMING AND BANGING on their locked parent's door after being told to stop??!! Multiple times! What teenage girl is perpetually angry, yelling, whiny and mean --even to her parents 24x7x365??? Oh wait, it's because she got her period....F*ck off, F*ck right the h3ll off. This movie is ridiculous and vulgar. Yes, more vulgar than me saying F*CK OFF to this movie. And oh yeah, F*ck off movie. I bought none of what was being sold here and honestly this is pretty much the polar opposite of 40. I wanted to be articulate and give a decent review but anger over the 2+hrs I lost watching this - AT WORK - has fractured my mind and this became a rant instead. Abhorrent, self-absorbed, pretentious POS.
