Sorry, this movie sucks
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
Two fathers lose their jobs in product development at a large food company and are forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman Academy and become stay at home fathers. With no job possibilities on the horizon , the two dads open their own day care facility, "Daddy Day Care" and employ some fairly unconventional and side-splitting methods of caring for children. However they face competition from the headmistress from Chapman as more of her students are joining Daddy Day Care. This film starred: Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin, Steve Zahn & Angelica Hudson.DADDY DAY CARE was released in 2003 ad is and is an OK family comedy. If you have children there is a big chance they will enjoy this film because even I got a few chuckles out of it. This film isn't something I would probably watch again but I do recommend this film to people with young kids as they will most likely enjoy it. So if you have kids that go to a day care centre, you should show them this film.***/***** Could be worse.
This is just a funny and fun movie. And as one user wrote, the chemistry between all the actors and kid actors really makes the movie. We could use more movies like this. Nothing inappropriate either. It is one of those movies that you come away smiling. It's a feel good movie. I imagine if more people would support these kinds of movies maybe Hollywood would make more. I do wonder if there are more people than we think who secretly enjoy a good wholesome movie. And love Steve Zahn. Eddie Murphy is so good when he keeps it clean. He seems genuinely nice and, of course, love his voice for animated characters.Everyone in the cast really makes this movie charming.
It's not a good movie, but it's not a bad movie too. Okay, I'll admit that Eddie Murphy has put a lot of effort into acting and so do the kids. Although the jokes are iffy, there were some funny parts to go along. I'm guessing that this film has been paying tribute to the Star Trek movies(Can you tell by the numerous references?). One of the funniest parts, I could say, is when the kids get hyped up on sugar and go crazy around the house. By the way, the Three Stooges shorts you see on TV are "Punch Drunks" and "Pardon my Scotch". Like I said, it's not a good movie, but at least it's kind of kid friendly. In other words, this movie should be fine for anyone who wants to find out what this movie is like.
As someone who's watched Eddie Murphy since his television debut on "Saturday Night Live" in 1980, I've seen him in many of his movies and I've liked him in most of the ones I've viewed (an exception would be Pluto Nash). So it is that I've now watched him in this family-friendly comedy that was a hit nine years ago. Having been used to seeing him being a wise guy or playing some outrageous characters, I have to admit I'm not used to seeing such a subdued Eddie as he seems here. In fact, he rarely says or does anything remotely funny. I mean, this is very much a cutesy kind of movie meant to amuse parents and provide their kids some relatable characters their age. And if I was an under age 12 one, I'd probably really like this movie. I don't hate it, per se. It's just not something that's my cup of tea, that's all. Still, Daddy Day Care is harmless enough and it's fascinating to see "SNL" vet Murphy have scenes with subsequent cast members Kevin Nealon, Siobahn Fallon Hogan, and Laura Kightlinger. And if you want to expose your kid to Murphy without getting embarrassed by some of the material, this is as good a place to start...
